It seems almost wrong to call this bag a bag. A whole lot of gig bags are just two flattened patio chair covers fastened together by zippers that a pair of pliers couldn’t budge. Not this one. It’s has the feel, weight, and carrying options of a gig bag, but the fit of a molded hard shell case. And the zipper requires nigh a pair of pliers to operate it.It’s sturdy inside and out. The shell feels like a dense foam pad which is covered in nylon fabric. It can take a decent lick, but anything like dropping it won’t offer much protection. The very bottom is reinforced with what looks like a rubber tank track so your strap peg won’t wear a hole through the bag. Storage comes in the form of pockets and a pouch attached to the front. The top pocket is just that- a pocket, like the pockets in your jeans pockets. You can slide your hand in there, but that’s about it. I use it store my term arm and some picks because that’s essentially all it’ll hold. On the bottom of the bag is a larger sheet music sized pouch which will hold a lot more. It’s not very wide, but it’ll hold a good bit of bric a brac. The pouch is closed by a flap that secures itself with a metal clip to a series of loops. There’s a second pocket on the flap of the pouch which, again, is just a pocket, but it’s one more place to cram some stuff like a couple of patch cables or a set of strings. The zipper runs almost completely around the perimeter of the bag making it easy to open it completely. read more The plush interior is a reddish-orange color with padding around the sides and back. The headstock, neck, and bottom of the body all have adjustable inserts to keep the guitar as still and secure as possible. The back has shoulder straps that can tuck in behind a zipped up cover so it’s flush and won’t snag on something when carried by the handle on the side. When it’s carried like a backpack, it can feel like you’re strapped to a board because the padding is so dense.Overall it’s a huge improvement from the cheaper gig bags. The price does tip-toe into hardshell case territory, so you’ll have to weigh the options to determine which kind of case suits your needs best. But if you do decide to get this one, you won’t regret it.
