I actually owned a '75 Jazz bass 20 or so years ago and loved it. I pulled the trigger on the reissue when zZounds was offering the 10 payment plan on Fender products. Comparatively the reissue is a better bass hands down. While it did need a set up "as most Fenders do" the bass now plays like butter at room temperature. The fit and finish is perfect, It's immediately apparent that over all quality of this instrument is extremely high as soon as you open the case. I think that one could actually hang it on the wall as a piece of art... the pictures do not do it justice.
Ive owned just about any bass you can think of over the last 35 years, and this bass compares and will out preform most if not all of them. The sound of this bass is almost like an active bass. It reminds me of the bell like sound of a piano with both pick ups at full volume, and the tone knob maxed. There is a variety of tones achievable with this bass. I just cant say enough about it. If your on the fence about spending 1700 bucks on a bass......Don't be. You wont be disappointed at all.
Musical Background:
Ive been playing bass over 35 years now.
Musical Style:
Rock, blues, jazz, country, and anything else that pays
