Overview
What do you want to be? The singer-songwriter, breaking hearts at the local coffee house? The fitness instructor that's always got the perfect mix CD for a high-energy class? The Business professional that makes a name for themself with the perfect presentation? Whatever you end up doing, you're going to need to be heard, and the Fender Passport Portable PA systems are the easiest, most convenient, and best-sounding way to amplify your voice, your music, and your ideas. While Fender has many Passport models, from light and compact to big and powerful, the Fender PD500 is the top-of-the line model, with plenty of wattage for large gatherings, and an impressive mixing section that can handle anything from a multi-media presentation to a small band.
Everything You Need
The one thing no one wants is to be the A/V club president, hunched over that loaded-down equipment cart, keeping track of all the necessary components and connectors, fumbling to get everything connected in time for the big event. With the Passport PD500, setup couldn't be easier. Absolutely everything you'll need is included with the Passport, and everything folds up into a single-piece that can be easily carried with one hand. The Passport combines the main PA system components, a mixer and a power amplifier, into one core unit. The other most important part of a PA is the speakers--those are included, too, and they attach firmly to the center mixing unit for transport. Not only does this all-in-one concept save… read more on setup time and make portage easy, but Fender has made sure that every piece of the PD500 system is perfectly matched and calibrated to one another. No worrying about whether your speaker enclosures are the correct impedance and power handling for your amplifier, or trying to figure out Ohm's law to make sure you're not going to blow your system. The Passport has everything figured out for you--it's a truly plug-and-play PA. And when we say "everything you need," we mean everything. All necessary power and speaker wires are included and fit neatly into the back of the mixer for storage. . . it even comes with a pair of high-quality, handheld dynamic microphones that are perfectly suited for both singing and spoken word. The PD500 is ready to rumble right out of the box.
Power And Clarity
Ease-of-setup is nice, but the main goal here is to be heard. The powerful PD500 boasts 500 watts of power. It's enough wattage to address or entertain groups of up to 1000 people, all without having to contend with distorted music or indistinct vocals. The Passport achieves an unrivaled sonic fidelity thanks to its perfectly matched power amp and speaker system, but also because of the design of the speaker enclosures themselves. Each of the two cabinets features two 8-inch woofers for low- and mid-range frequencies and titanium compression driver horns for higher frequency reproduction. The dual-woofers provide power and punch for music, while the horns keep vocals crisp and articulate. The design also provides wide sound coverage, so that no matter where your audience is, you can be sure they'll hear you.
Flexibility For Any Situation
The mixer layout on the Passport 500 is simple, but effective. The first six mono channels are suitable for microphones or instrument inputs, and the 7th and 8th channels are both stereo channels that can each accept stereo instruments such as keyboards, samplers, and electronic drums. Those channels are also where you can plug in an auxiliary audio source like a CD player, computer, or MP3 player. Each channel has its own equalization controls to sweeten the sound of individual instruments or voices, and there's a master EQ that makes it easy to find and eliminate feedback in any space. The PD500 even sports a digital effects section; if you're feeling adventurous, why not experiment with the on-board reverb? It's amazing how such a simple effect can add professional sheen to sung melodies and acoustic guitar. Not only that, but the Passport 500 has a mono monitor line out so that musicians and singers on stage can hear themselves, making the system perfect for use in smaller acoustic music venues or houses of worship! All the controls are clearly labeled and intuitively arranged, so even if you're a live-sound novice, you'll be sculpting your mix with the confidence of a seasoned pro.
Every aspect of the Fender Passport was designed to make your amplified life easier. From transport to setup to operation, the PD500 nearly operates itself! With plenty of power, crystal audio clarity and self-explanatory controls, the only challenge in owning your Fender Passport will be deciding what you want to use it for! read less

I was worried when I bought the Passport 500 that it wouldn't have the power or sound. I've used other brands of compact systems and I didn't like them. I took a chance on the fender name and a dealer I trust. If something happened to this unit, I would buy another. When it needs to be replaced, and Fender has a better unit, I will try it. If I needed a bigger system for some reason, I would rent one. I'm 62 years old and will most likely never be a "Rock Star" but, I,m happy!!!
Sound
Great souund, Fully adjustable for each channel, I also plug my XP80 keyboard into it and the sound will blow you away.
Features
I use the Fender tripod stands. Their a must for playing in bigger rooms.Everything else is already included. I even prefer the mic's that came with it than my SM58.
Ease of Use
Unlike rack mounts, The passport 500 takes about five minutes to set up and I can adjust it myself through out the night as required.
Quality
Looks good, easy to take care of. It had a smell, like a hot transformer, but I used it about 100 nights and it works perfect. It still looks like new.
Value
I am extreemly satisyfied, If something happened to it, I would buy another the next day.
Manufacturer Support
I don't know because I never used Fender support, or their warranty.
The Wow Factor
Like the song says, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make an ugly woman your wife" Its not sexy, but you will love it and it exceeded all my expectations.
Musical Background:
49 years as guitar & bass player Local active musician
