What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Alder body Light weight with a wide tonal range
Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel
Pure Vintage '65 Gray-Bottom pickups Period-correct pickups for even feel and tone
Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish Lets guitar age naturally without impeding tone

A period of change, both for Fender and for pop culture as a whole, the 1960s saw the Strat mellow slightly as it grew up. The white pickguard was updated to mint green, and the fingerboard was switched from the original maple to rosewood, adding a smoother note to the Strat's clear, articulate voice. The American Original '60s Stratocaster keeps these refinements intact while adding modern feel and pickup switching to the iconic instrument that helped birth guitar rock as we know it.

The wax-potted Pure Vintage '65 single-coil Stratocaster pickups are as period-correct as possible, from the enamel-coated coil wire to the cloth-covered output wires, fiber bobbins and alnico 5 magnets. The thick "'60s C" neck profile and the 9.5"-radius fingerboard enhances playability. Other authentic touches include vintage-tall frets, original-era body radii, vintage-style hardware-including a six-point synchronized tremolo bridge- vintage-style hardshell case and a lacquer finish that not only lets the wood "breathe" naturally with resonant tone, it also ages in a distinctively appealing way.

The American Original '60s Stratocaster is the best way to experience the performance, style and tone that made Fender the choice of legends.

"Feels great and has killer sound"

Between this year (2020) and last year, these American Original 50' and 60's Fender Strats are as good as it gets. In this price point there is not "one...single... strat", from last year or this year that comes close to being this great or this playable. This instrument is great to hold, has great looks and a killer sound as well as being as close to an original 60's strat (save for the 7.5 radius which I'm glad they changed to 9.5). It's so nice to have a neck (on either the 50's or 60's strat) on an instrument that is not a C or modern C or deep D, I am so tired of buying MIM Fender guitars and having to swap out the neck... except for the classic players 50's strat which wasn't to bad but is no longer available. I assume it was replaced by the Vintera series which has a 7.5 radius...no thanks . I only wish they (Fender) would use these exact specks and build a line of these (call them MIM Originals or whatever) guitars in Mexico thus making them more affordable for us all. However, at the very least you can get close to custom shop appointments with this series for under 2k and that aint bad. Good job Fender but try harder... and stop with all the various maddening C necks... not all of us are shredders needing a flat surface to play on.
