The EMAD System pack includes a 22-inch EMAD clear batter head and the redesigned 22-inch EMAD resonant head, which features a re-engineered microphone port damping and reinforcement system. This head combination has steadily become a drummer favorite, and it's available here in a single box at a reduced price.
With the Evans EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping) System, drummers have a simple, quick way to change their drumhead sound without having to remove the head. Each head allows the player to toggle between three different levels of attack and sustain.
Evans EMAD Clear Bass Drum Batter Head
The EMAD batter head comes with 2 dampening rings, each of which affects the head's sound and pedal response. This external system not only maximizes natural attack characteristics and offers tremendous dynamic range (even at low dynamic levels where other damping systems fall short), it also allows quick, easy adjustments -- without having to remove the head from the drum. This unique feature is extremely valuable, especially during recording sessions.
Evans EMAD Bass Drum Resonant Head
The EMAD resonant head was brought to Evans by drummer/designer Bob Gatzen, and refined by the Evans Research and Development team. It utilizes a 7mil head with a fixed internal ring. The head features two interchangeable foam rings that dampen overtones around the edge of the 5 in. offset port, focusing the pitch and enhancing attack. The port is positioned higher up on the…
head for easier microphone placement.
The firmer of the two foam rings (darker color) delivers enhanced attack, controlled sustain, and focused low-end for a quick, articulate thump. The softer foam ring (lighter color) allows for a more round tone and moderately controlled sustain especially useful for smaller drums and high tuning. Together, the EMAD batter and resonant heads complete a system that gives drummers the adjustability, low-end, attack, and focus they dream about.
