This pedal is a EarthQuaker Devices x Death By Audio joint collaboration that brings their sonic soundscape trips to your melted mind.

With the switch to the left, Time Shadows' controls are completely the brainchild of EarthQuaker Devices resident genius Jamie Stillman. Flip the switch to the right, and you enter the head of the madman Oliver Ackermann from Death By Audio, barely clutching to reality. Place the switch in the middle and enter a whole new realm of pitch warping delays brought to you by a telepathic mind-meld with a 5th dimensional dream being.

The EarthQuaker Devices side transforms whatever you play into the sound of a jazz space bazooka! It's a pitch morphed fuzz delay filter with so much attitude that you are actually intimidated. It takes the input signal, blows it out with power of digital distortion, blends it with a polyphonic sub octave, feeds it into a delay, then spits it out into a highly resonant envelope controlled lowpass filter. The Death By Audio side is a multi-delay filter remorphinator that goes from icy shimmers to cosmic space caves of bouncing repeats. The middle position is an energy beam that brings your earthly transmissions repetitively closer to the heavens while simultaneously diving deep into the hells.

Hey, this is Alex from zZounds with some things to know about the EarthQuaker Devices x Death by Audio Time Shadows. So, one of my favorite things to do with this pedal is actually not to use it on guitar at all, but to use it on synth. So, especially this combined channel here in the middle, you can make really crazy sounds with any kind of analog synth and then in your DAW sample that and make really cool pads with time stretching or just crazy soundscapes. This thing is capable of making noises that you would never come up with on your own. And I think once you expand that palette with synthesis, it really opens up the floodgates.

fUnFuNfUn!!! This thing brings "the weird" in a very cool way. Shipped to me in 2 days. Thanks zZounds! My wife informed me she found the box on the front step. Oh well, she found it. I was wailing away 5 mins later. Doesn't come with a power supply. No worries. Takes my B055 wal wort just fine :) Here's what you need to know: First, it does everything you see and hear in all the videos. 2nd, there is a 3 position toggle switch near the top of the pedal that lets you pick EQD, mystery mode, or DBA. The mystery mode is a combo of both manufactures. It has the 2 exclamations points. 3rd, my dog ran away when I got to the "mystery mode". Its pretty flat where I live and I could see her running away for at least 10 minutes. She kept looking back at me while still distancing herself. She sent an earth to space telepathic dog communication to me at 1.7Ghz. IDK if it bounced off the moon or what? Amazingly I was able to receive it.. in my brain. She said she would return once I switched to EQD or DBA mode. I did and eventually I saw a little black and white dot floating in the distance and moving towards me. She made in back home in time for dinner.FINAL CONCLUSION OF THE 3 MODESI will be using the DBA side of things to inject a little lush spacey weirdness into my mixes. The mystery mode makes your guitar sound like that guy in the guitar store showing off when he plays a chromatic scale that goes up and down every other note in quick half steps. And everybody in the store turns to… read more look and see who is playing that. That's what mystery mode does. Really, that's what it does. The EQD side of this pedal is straight up BAD A55.

Sound
The sound quality is very good. I will point out the filter knob. Gets a little bright for me when i'ts turned up all the way but that's what it takes sometimes.

Features
I got the Time Shadows V2 to use with my electric guitar and Ub-xa synth. Currently I write Brazilian electronic kinda retro jazz - the Time Shadow V2 will fit in great. Can't wait to try it with my synth.

Ease of Use
Watch the videos and you will have no problem getting some interesting and useful sounds out of the this thing. If you need help getting started just try the EQD toggle on the 1st preset knob - deadly cool. The EQD distortion combined with the subharmonic filter and reverb wash is outstanding!

Quality
This is my 2nd EQD pedal. Quality seems great. I also have the green and yellow OD one.

The Wow Factor
It's nice to have a piece of hardware like the Time Shadows V2 to mess with your sound. That or a real analog keyboard to put a little life in your mix is always a plus in this digital world of Ai.
