The UpTown Kat ES Collection is the next generation of Epiphone's critically acclaimed ES-style archtop featuring a 5-ply Maple & Poplar bent rims, pressed top and back with a Spruce center block and 5-ply white and black binding on the front and back. The Mahogany neck has an Ebony fingerboard with a rounded "C" profile, pearloid "block" inlays, a 24.75" scale length, 22 medium wide frets, 12" radius, and a 1.68" GraphTech nut. The headstock features Epiphone's historic "badge" logo used briefly in the early 60s and the orange f-hole label is also modeled after vintage Epi labels from the 60s.Epiphone Mini-ProBucker FB720:
The Uptown Kat ES Collection is powered by the ProBucker FB720 pickups, the same mini-humbucker used in the Ltd. Ed. Joe Bonamassa "Treasure" Firebird and reconstructed to the original specifications of the Gibson Firebird pickups from the mid 60s. Accept no substitutes! The ProBucker FB720 has two Alnico II bar magnets used as blades in the coils along with a steel reflector plate to achieve the classic Firebird tone of the 60s. Because the DC resistance is around 7.85Kohm, the ProBucker FB720 mini humbucker provides a clean, bright output with incredible touch sensitivity and a warm low… read more end compared to a standard mini humbuckers. I had just purchased two of Epiphone's Inspired by Gibson ES-335's. And to complete my post-pandemic guitar fleet revamp I wanted to add something a bit different ... with a little more bite to cut through a mix. My Sapphire Blue Uptown Kat was just perfect. What a great blues and rock guitar. My ES-335's play effortlessly, but somehow the Uptown Kat is easier and faster to play. And the sound is unique yet complementary to the 335's. It is now the one I practice and play on. And it’s got the same Inspired by Gibson quality and build. And finally, Wow ... zZounds got it to me FAST! My second guitar from them ... and it won’t be my last. Great job zZounds!
