AAA Flame Maple Top

The Epiphone Les Paul Tribute 'Prizm' PLUS has a Mahogany body with a solid, carved Hard Maple AAA Flame top for incredible tone with a rare Rainbow finish. The Mahogany neck is hand-fitted and glued-in with a Vintage "Deep-Set neck joint that extends well into the neck pickup cavity, creating maximum neck-to-body contact so the Les Paul Tribute 'Prizm' Plus resonates as a single piece of wood. The Mahogany neck has a 1960s SlimTaper 'D' profile with a 24.75" scale, a Pau Ferro fingerboard with 'mother of pearl' trapezoid inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 12" radius. The body and fingerboard have cream binding.

Gibson USA '57 Classic Pickups

The Les Paul Tribute 'Prizm' PLUS is powered by legendary Gibson USA '57 Classic humbucker pickups which even include a vintage style "Patent Applied For" decal each pickup's base plate. The '57 Classic in the rhythm position and the '57 Classic Plus in the bridge position are faithful replicas of the famous 'PAF'-style Gibson humbuckers created by Seth Lover mid 1950s.

The '57 Classic provides a complex tone that can go to clear to crunch while the '57 Classic Plus is modeled after hand read more wound humbuckers from the late '50s that often received a few extra turns of wire for a slightly higher output. Used together, '57 Classic styled humbuckers will overdrive tube preamps to a smooth level of saturation without becoming overpowering. Gibson '57 Classics include Alnico II magnets, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers, and vintage-style braided wiring. The Les Paul Tribute 'Prizm' PLUS also has two push/pull tone pots to allow for series/parallel pickup switching for a near limitless palette of tonal combinations. Controls include a Switchcraft three-way selector switch and Mallory-150 tone capacitors with gold "Speed" knobs for Volume and Tone for each pickup.

LockTone Bridge and Stopbar Tailpiece

The Les Paul Tribute 'Prizm' PLUS comes with nickel strap locks and Epiphone's famous LockTone Bridge and Stopbar tailpiece combo for improved sustain and easy intonation along with Grover Locking Tuners and Epiphone's 1/4' Non-Rotating with a Cream Jack Plate. A hard case is included.

I have been a Gibson player for the last 25 years, but now I am happy to call myself an Epiphone player as well. I have two Les Paul Studios which I love, but I wanted another LP with a high-end finish; however, not at the ridiculous price of a Gibson AAA Maple top model. The Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Prizm Plus came and I was astonished at how good looked. Out of the box it played really well, but I only gave it 4.5 stars in the ease of use because the intonation was a little off and the action was little high (but so were all my Gibsons). The Gibson 57s are lower gain but they sound so good and the Grover Locking tuners (my first time having them) are really solid. The Slim Taper D neck profile is different than the 50’s rounded that I play, but I have grown to love it. I actually think it feels better than the Gibson 60s Slim Taper, which I do not like (IMHO). As for the one bad review here, it doesn't sound like that person got the right product. This guitar, even as one of the highest priced Epiphone LPs, is a tremendous value and truly turns heads sonically and visually! Finally I would like to say that this was my first zZounds.com purchase and the experience was great!
