Epiphone Viola Electric Bass

Epiphone introduces the Viola, one of the most recognized basses in the world. A popular bass for British Invasion bands who couldn't afford finer Gibson and Epiphone instruments, the Viola's unique construction and woody tone produce unique sound on stage and in the studio. Today, vintage models are difficult to find and are often plagued by vintage problems along with their vintage price tag. Epiphone engineers have solved those problems with their Viola Bass, which has the same classic sound with improved pickups, hardware, and electronics.

The Look of A Classic

The Viola features a laminated maple top and maple body in a beautiful Vintage Sunburst (VS) finish. The eye catching 30.5 inch scale maple neck is hand set and glued in and includes a pau ferro fingerboard with a 12 inch radius, a 1.65 inch nut, and classic dot inlays. The headstock riffs on Epiphone's famous '60s Sloped Dovewing headstock.

Vintage Tone For Today

The Viola's incredible tone comes from a NYR (neck) and NYT (bridge) mini humbucker which perfectly compliment the light maple body.

Epiphone's Famous Hardware

Epiphone's stellar hardware features a classic inlaid gold tailpiece, a rosewood bridge with s compensated rosewood saddle, Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone, all using full-size 500K O potentiometers, and premium 14:1 machine heads.

The Epiphone Viola Bass comes with Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 customer service.

"Smooth Operator "
I am a stringed instrument nut- I currently have a small collection of about 30 instruments and several Bass Guitars are in that mix. I wanted the Viola for it's warm plucky sound [unique to this instrument]. I am always amused to read people say "it has fret buzz" or "it wasn't set up right" as a complaint- New things are not worn in and will require adjustment over time as there is no "magical lifetime setup".... So yes I had to tweak neck, bridge, and string configuration and will have to continue this process as I break this girl in. The wood is absolutely remarkable for this price range without sacrificing a bit of tone. This is not your Uncle Bob's Funky Disco Bass, this is a very light, airy, comfortable Bass with deep sustain and very hot pickups. I give this Bass 5 stars for meeting my expectations and musical needs- Cheers!
