Darkglass Alpha-Omega Bass Distortion and Overdrive Pedal
zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Send your bass tone to the gnarliest depths of distortion with the Alpha Omega. Plug this right into your amp, or send your signal to the mixer with the DI.
Overview
Besides being an amazing composer, producer and bassist, Jon Stockman is amazing at crafting some of the most devastating bass tones in the world. We got together in our then Helsinki headquarters 18 months ago and after endless tweaking and tens of prototypes we are finally ready to announce our first co-designed creation: Alpha Omega.
This creation differs greatly from our previous preamplifiers and overdrives: it is fully operational amplifier based and has two distinct distortion circuits (Alpha and Omega) which can be selected or blended using our Mod knob. This unusual control, in conjunction with the toggle switches and 3 active band equalizer makes Alpha . Omega the most flexible among our designs.
Check out the Perfect Pairing of the Digitech MonoNeon Whammy and the Darkglass Electronics Alpha-Omega distortion pedal:
- Level: Sets the volume of the overdriven signal.
- Drive: Sets the amount of gain in the overdriven signal.
- Bite: Boosts High Mids (2.8kHz) for additional presence and definition.
- Growl: Shelving Bass Boost for a fatter tone and increased low end saturation.
- Mod: Selects or mixes between the two distinct distortion circuits: Alpha is punchy, tight with a lot of definition, whereas Omega is simply brutal and raw.
- Bass: +-12dB @ 80Hz
- Mid: +-12dB @… read more 500Hz
- Treble: +-12dB @ 5kHz
- Parallel Output: Hardwired copy of your input signal, useful for getting a clean signal in recording and live situations
- Direct Output: A balanced version of the 1/4" output, useful for running into PA's or studio mixing consoles.
- Size: 12x10.7 cm (4.72x4.21 in)
- Power requirements: 9v center negative, 30mA current draw

Things To Know
Darkglass Alpha-Omega Bass Distortion and Overdrive Pedal

Hey everybody, this is Justin at zZounds and these are some things to know about the Darkglass Alpha Omega pedal. A cool thing about it is that it has two distinct distortion circuits, as the Alpha and Omega implies. Alpha is going to be a more punchy version of the distortion, whereas the Omega is more of a raw, brutal distortion that’s a little more ragged. You can use this mod knob to either go to either side and choose Alpha or Omega, or you could go to flavors in between them because it’s actually a full dial. That’s a really good thing to know about it.
Another good thing to know is that the growl switch and the bite switch, these two little switches right here, are useful for getting a low-end boost over here or a high-end 2.8 kHz boost over here for more cut and definition. Also, don’t sleep on using the parallel output and the direct output. That’s really handy. The parallel output, for instance, is basically a clean DI. You could route that out and have a clean version of your signal that you could blend in with the distorted signal. And furthermore, the direct out is going to be a balanced version of the pedal signal, so you could run that over to a PA, a mixing console, or a recording console. Those are a few cool things to know about the Darkglass Alpha Omega pedal.

I had never heard of Darkglass before. Every bass player needs a good DI, and even more importantly a good distortion pedal that doesn’t take away the low end. I haven’t got to try out the DI yet live, but boy does this thing know how to make your bass growl! You can get most any tone you want from this thing! The blend option is so important, as to be able to mix in your dry signal to the distorted one, keeps all the low end you want that way! I love this pedal! Finally a manufacturer specifically designed for bass effects!
