Upon its arrival the Ultrafex caused a sensation. It is now one of the world's best-selling enhancers, used by renowned PA rental companies and recording studios. The new Ultrafex Pro has been developed out of our many years of research and development in the field of psychoacoustic processing.
The Behringer "Natural Sonic" Processor
The upper-frequencies processor has 2 controls per channel. "Tune" alters the high pass filter cut-off determining how much of the spectrum is to be processed. "High Mix" sets the degree of processing required.… read more The "Process"-control enables you to mix between 2 effects, until you find a balance that is perfect for your music. As the control is turned clockwise, the ratio of "classical" enhancement decreases, while that of the other processor, a more aggressive exciter, increases. A 50/50 blend occurs at the zero position.
Integrated Noise Reduction System
As Exciters and Enhancers process high frequencies, so they must inevitably increase system noise. To counter this we have included our sliding-filter single-ended Noise Reduction system, which effectively removes all audible hiss generated by the exciter/enhancer side-chain, while leaving your valuable original signal totally unaffected.
Integrated Bass Processor
The Ultrafex Pro comes with a separate Bass Processor for low frequency enhancement, with variable process amount and switchable corner frequency ("low" and "ultra-low"). Additionally you can choose between "hard" and "soft" sound processing.
Surround Processor
The subjective impression a sound produces can largely depend on the positioning of the instruments within the stereo field an often neglected fact. Therefore, we have integrated an adjustable Surround Processor in the Ultrafex Pro, which is able to dramatically improve the intensity of the spatial stereo effect. Your program material gains in liveliness, depth and transparency. As in a cinema or theatre system, you have the impression that the orchestral instruments are placed all around you. The Surround Processor enlarges your stereo image dependent upon the program material without coloring the sonic image.
Better Survey
The newly designed illuminated switches and the LED meter give you exact information about the activated functions.
Solo Mode
Unique to Behringer, the Ultrafex Pro's Solo function permits you to audition the pure process only. Solo (effect only) mode also permits patching of the Ultrafex Pro into any mixer's Aux Send and Return loop, enabling individual channel control of the enhancement process.

"Best $100.00 you can spend!"

Something better will likely come along eventually. But in the meantime, I'm sticking with my Ultrafex; especially at this price.
Sound
Simply sounds great! You will hear the difference. It adds a "presence" that will amaze you; especially once you switch it back to normal. You will be saying to yourself, "Wow, what happened to my sound!" I have used other enhancers, etc. but almost always came away disappointed. I don't feel that way about the Ultrafex Pro.
Features
Haven't had much reason to use the bass enhancer. I record mostly acoustic guitars, flutes, vocal, etc. But I did experiment with some recorded music and found it really punched it up the low end.
Quality
Seems pretty solid to me. You won't want to banging it around. But in a studio enviroment it should stand the test of time just fine. I don't think I would take it on the road. It's really designed with the studio in mind.
Value
Best $100.00 you could spend on your recording gear. Which is surprising! Considering that just about everything else in your setup is going to cost more than the Ultrafex PRO.
Manufacturer Support
Not on this unit but did have some problems with a Behringer mixer that they resolved promptly for me. (bad power supply)
The Wow Factor
I like the way Behringer products look. They stand out from the pack. True,… read more they almost all look alike. But in the end what really matters is the end result. Behringer gets the job done and for a budget price. You can spend a whole lot more for another manufacturer's equipment. And to be honest with you can get better equipment. But the difference in quality isn't worth the huge increase in price. Me ... I rather save my money and use it for something else like a good quality mic or maybe food.
Musical Background:
Active musician, recording engineer.
Musical Style:
