Adam S2A Powered Studio Monitor

The active Adam Audio S2A monitor was primarily designed for high-end small to medium recording/monitoring environments in a near-field application. However it can easily used in any application where precise near-field monitoring is desired. The Adam Audio S2A is a 2x150 watt (RMS) powered monitor with a 7.5 inch HexaCone Woofer and an Accelerated Ribbon Technology (A.R.T.) tweeter. The back panel includes a balanced XLR and a power switch. On the front, along with the bass port, there is a standby switch, input gain and three controls that allow users to tune the output for their listening environment. A High Gain control cuts or boosts the tweeter amplifier 4 dB and two Room EQ controls that are 6dB cut/boost shelf filters for above 6 kHz and below 150 Hz.

The Adam Audio S2A comes with a 7.5 inch woofer with a HexaCone membrane that remains stable at all frequencies and sound pressure levels. As a result, it delivers a very natural reproduction of the fundamental frequency range. It features front panel carrying controls for power, input sensitivity, tweeter level and two shelf filters for adjusting the speaker to the room properties. Overall it provides incredibly transparent and exact sound reproduction.

HexaCone Woofer
The diaphragms of the woofer in the S2A are made of a special material called HexaCone. The core is a honeycomb structure… read more made of a very light and stiff material called Nomex and is coated on both sides with Kevlar. These diaphragms are far stiffer and more rigid than other cone material resulting in a remarkably tight and accurate LF response.

A.R.T. - Accelerated Ribbon Technology
As a folded ribbon transducer, Adam's A.R.T. tweeter technology is different than anything offered in the Pro Audio industry. Essentially, it squeezes air in a 4:1 ration rather than moving it like a piston in a 1:1 ratio as found in traditional tweeter technology. The results?
