Feature:
You wont see alot of knobs and switches here, it only has the important ones and if you play with them a bit you can find pretty much any sound you're looking for.

Quality:
Checked out the cab and chassis after it got here, looked alright to me, checked all of the screws I could find, they were all tight, the tubes were nice and tight too, even after a six hour jam session.

Value:
The best value out there by far, when I was still shopping for a new amp, it finally came down to this one or a VOX modelling amp, I decided to go with the $200 tube amp, and haven't regreted it even for a second.

Desirability:
Even the wife loves it's vintage styling, even got mad at me when I said I wanted to take the tubes out and slide it around the driveway for awhile, to make the vintage looking cab look even more realistic.

Sound:
I have a Peavey Transtube that I USED to think sounded pretty good, this Pignose just blows it away, it's a great tone that comes out of that big ten inch. It's a bit more mellow sounding than the Peavey when I really drive it hard, transistors and chips still can't do what good old fashioned tubes can. I just plug in my strat, with a homemade 741 preamp in it, turn all the knobs over to the right as far as they'll go, and it's perfect.

Support:
Haven't had to get ahold of them, don't think I'll ever have too either.

Overall:
The next amp I get I'll build myself, already have my EL34's ready to go, and drilling the chassis tomorrow. If it was stolen, I'd get my gun and commence to chasin them down.

Feature:
Feature wise... this amp dosen't provide much, but who needs a bunch of crap when it sounds this good... Really , the only thing I would like to see is channel switching capability from clean to overdrive. That would make this amp PERFECT!!!! I hope someone at pignose is listening!!!! I consider it a huge drawback to dial in a clean sound and use some crappy pedal to get dirty with this amp, as it's dirty sound is sooooo perfect on it's own....I would gladly buy this amp again for twice the price if it had channel switching... PIGNOSE ARE YOU LISTENING????

Quality:
The quality of this amp seems up to snuff. It seems really solid and well constructed. Only time well tell. In the future I plan to upgrade to some groove tubes cause who knows whatis in it.

Value:
This amp is a steal. buy one, provided you are not playing in stadiums, and I know none of you are. I would happily pay 2-3 more for another one if it had channel switching. That could make it my main amp

Sound:
This little amp kicks butt. I have owned fender, marshall, peavey and a mish mash of other amps over the years, but to be really honest, regardless of price, this is the best sounding amp I have ever owned. It has a really meaty, warm, and responsive clean sound, and when mildly overdriven it really sounds good as well. Although it sounds awesome at lower volumes, it really shows its ability when cranked up. This amp is fully capable when playing with a full band, don't let it's small size fool you !!! I find that when dialed in a mild overdrive, I can get a full, warm , crunchy, yet repsonsive distortion that will back down to a cleaner sound by playing a bit lighter or backing off the guitar volume a bit. By the way, I primarily play a SRV strat.

Overall:
Overall, this amp is a treasure, It sounds great, looks good, it SOUNDS GREAT, it has knobs, IT SOUNDS GREAT, it has a plug to plug it in, IT SOUNDS GREAT, it has a speaker, IT SOUNDS GREAT, it has an input jack, IT SOUNDS GREAT, You get my drift......I just wish it had channel switching.

Feature:
I gave the amp an 8 because it doesn't have many features, but it's still really cool. This is one thing I love about my amp: it's simple! I have a DigiTech RP2000 effects unit that makes all the crazy noises I need. The amp itself is plain, which is good. There are no crazy buttons or anything to mess up. I'll have to say that the best feature is the tubes. There are a lot of solid-state amps out there, but they just don't have the feel and tone of tubes. I could tell a difference immediately between this amp and my old 10 watt solid state. The only thing I would ask for on this amp is a channel switcher to go between clean and distortion.

Quality:
This is a great product. The wooden cabinet is very sturdy (and kinda heavy when you have to carry it a long way, but it's worth it) and the speaker sounds good. I've heard of people swopping out the stock speaker, but I don't think that is needed. It sounds great as it. The tubes seem to be pretty good quality too.

Value:
This amp is the best value out there. Believe me, I've looked. I never buy anything without researching and finding out all I can and getting the best price. I saw the same amp on another instrument website for $30 more. Compared to other amps that sound this good, I stole this thing. Marshall, Vox, and other brands are really expensive, especially for a high school student. For $200 bucks, you won't find a better amp. I would even dare say that for any amount of money, you couldn't beat this amp unless you really need a bunch of power or features. Great amp for a great price sums it up.

Desirability:
The pigskin look is really cool. The amp is brown with a black front, as you can see in the pics. The little Pignose emblem really shines under the lights. But, I didn't get the amp just because it looked cool. That's an added benefit. The main reason I got it is to have great tone, which it has.

Sound:
This amp sounds awesome. I've played Marshalls at my local music store and this Pignose sounds just as good. Pure tube tone that is so sweet! I haven't been able to "open it up" yet because it is so powerful. I've played one show and I play every Wednesday night at church. This amp sounds great for both rockin' distortion and sweet clean tones.

Support:
I haven't needed any customer support, so that is a 10. They did things right so I don't need help trying to fix things or send it back.

Overall:
This amp is a great buy. The tone is awesome and the price is unbeatable. I will keep this thing for a long time. In fact, I'll probably hang on to it for my kids when I have them. Well, maybe not, cuz then I'd have to get a new amp and I love this one. The only reason I would buy another amp is if I had money to burn and wanted something bigger, which I have no need for right now.

Feature:
Not much other than very basic and a presence control. The 4/8 ohm output jack selection is good. It's about simplicity and tube tone in very light-weight little package. You've got 40 "tubed" watts into a 10" speaker that puts the meaning of presence in midrange; dialed up clean with trebble open, is how I understand odd-even harmonics and the difference between valves and transistors.

Quality:
I've seen mention of these things modified with higher quality components, orange gumdrops, I suppose, fixes for quieter circuitry, a standby switch. The transformer usually gets a hard look at first, stinks for awhile out of the box, but after letting it gradually "warm" in - should be Ok. Some go over the PCB to inspect soldering. Others put in a 12" for added bass.

Value:
For $200 chinese made tubed amp styled after the early fender bassman, you could be paying me to read this review, right?

Desirability:
Sex appeal? It's the type of amp you needn't wear protection - dials up clean easily.

Sound:
You'll get a little hum out of the electronics for the price and origin of make. Jazz players and especially harp players are interested in this amp. Is the overall brighter amp compared to my old Duncan 8450 with EL34s or a Cybertwin. I also plug it into a sealed half cab. Big, big difference with the tubes pushing 4x12" instead of the stock 10" speaker.

Support:
Mine came shipped from Las Vegas. Personally, never played there.

Overall:
For the money I paid for a new Pignose, it would be disrespectful to talk about my Cybertwin.

I am just a recreational player. I bought one and use an old Seebring SB200 (a strat-type solid-body with 2 humbuckers), an old Yahmaha flat-top with a soundhole pickup, and a mic'd harp, sometimes with a Danelectro echo pedal. They all sound great and the amp works well. Played it in our school gym with the Sebring and had the walls shakin'! It also works well with a mic for vocals. It's a throwback to the equipment we used when I was a kid!!! I think that's really cool! I love it.

Feature:
Features speak for themselves- real straight forward. Think Fender Twin (without reverb) with this amp, only smaller.

Sound:
Amasing! The sound is in some repects similer to a Fender Twin, altho it's quite a bit smaller, no doubt due to the smaller speaker and cabnet. It does what one would expect from a tube amp, exept the sound is just small. Micing the amp for recording or PA usage is really remarkable tho. To drive the amp is fairly effortless and getting some nicely driven feedback is quite easy to do. Obviously, some playing technique is necessary along with the choice of guitar used to get good tonal qualities out of any amp and the G40V is no exeption. But the G40V seems to be more "player friendly" than most solid state amps I've worked with. On the technical side, I've found that the circuit is quite similar to that of a Fender Twin, with the exeption of a few component values in the tone control circuits. Other than that, it's pretty much identical. Overall, Id say that the G40V is a nice little tube amp with more than a handfull of power... 40 watts is a nice punch of power for a tube rig and in such a small package. I give it a 6.8 rating. For the price, it's quite nice, especially if one wants a tube amp that has REAL tubes... Not tube modeling!

Feature:
Pretty much a straight foward amp. No extras; completly old school. For features, I use a Marshall pedal which works great by the way. Pedals really bring out the tone of this amp. In my oppinion, the presence controll is piontless on strat type guitars. It only adds a papery rasp to your tone.

Quality:
By constanly hauling it around everyday in the past half year i've had it, the amp has held up really well. No dings, scraches, or dents. The actual quality of the amp is quite good. It weighs only about 25 lbs and is rather sturdy. The tubes are protected by a metal grill and do not fall out.

Value:
pretty much the best deal out there. You can spend $320 on another tube amp but your only gonna get about 15 watts.

Desirability:
The looks of this amp could be better. It is very unique, take my word. The "pigskin" covering is a clayish color, somewhere in between brown and faded orange.

Sound:
The sound of this amp is quite good. It gives a nice tube tone. Distortion is great for blues and blues rock. It can be set to a nice, creamy tone. If you are comparing this against a solid state combo of similar wattage, the solid state will not stand a chance when it comes to tone.

Ease of Use:
Simple, user friendly, easy to change tubes and speakers (recomended).

Support:
idk, never dealt with em

Overall:
I am completly satified with my purchase, you cannot beat the price. I can jamm with my friends at extremly high volumes (Neighbors calling) and this thing wont even be cranked half way up. It rocks out loud and works great with a speaker cabinet. (Nice with celestions and eminence cabs). The only down sides to this amp are the lack of features, looks, and the fact that the amp doesn't really know what "clean" means. It is extremly haard to get a nice clean tone out of the amp. If you want a clean channal on this amp, I recomend swapping the tubes with low gain ones. (I would swap the tubes anyway). All in all, this is a great little amp with a superb design. It suffers from being produced in china using cheap chinese components. Its a great amp to mod because of is simplicity and size.

I played one at a local music store the other day with both a Fernandez guitar with active pickups and a hollow bodied 335 made by Samick. On the clean setting the active pickups lended a nice crisp "pure" sound with only slightly muted articulation of tone. This was easily corrected and managed with the 3 band EQ by a little tweak of the mid and treble making it sound nearly as good as Marshall's signature sound and certainly a rival of the Valvestate series from Marshall. The hollow bodied guitar produced just an all around good time with simple plug it in and let it go attitude. Great for the distinguishable Chicago blues sounds of the past and expressive jazzy little ditties. With either instrument and the amp set at a moderate level of distortion a very nice groovy attitude reminicient of the late 60's and mid 90's was given its due justice. At full out the bottom end gets a little muddy but it is a most interesting and "grungy" sounding power kicker that could easily be cleaned up a little with a processor or your favorite EQ settings. I plan to purchase one tomorrow!
