Manufacturer's Description for Yamaha FGX730SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar
The Yamaha FGX730SC Acoustic Electric Guitar is part of Yamaha's FG acoustic guitars series and the company's longest running range of guitars. The company's first steel string acoustics, launched in 1966, were FGs. New for this year, the FGX730SC follows in a long line of player favorite electro-acoustics.
The FGX series are the acoustic-electric version of the FG series. Traits inherited from the L-series such as non-scalloped X bracing and reverse-L block neck attachment, have made it an instrument of high quality. It's clear, bright tone is just at home playing accompaniment as it is playing lead, and an on-board 3-band equalizer with an adjustable mid-range frequency offers superior tone tailoring. Look at some of the great features of the FGX730SC.
A.R.T. Pickup System A.R.T.(Acoustic Resonance Transducer) technology - Newly developed contact pickup and a unique multilayer structure achieves optimum dynamic balance. Yamaha acoustic-electric guitars have consistently used piezoelectric pickups to reproduce the pure sounds of the acoustic guitar. But piezoelectric pickups tended to overreact to changes in attack, which in turn caused distortion. To achieve ideal playability, Yamaha had to improve the way that these dynamics were controlled. To provide a solution to this issue, the new pickup was designed with a multilayer structure consisting of six layers of different materials. This dampens excessive vibration from the topboard while picking up small resonances to achieve ideal sensitivity and outstanding dynamic balance. Also, because the pickup is fitted directly beneath the topboard, it functions as a transducer attached to the body. - 3-way configuration In addition to two main pickups mounted under the saddle, this system has one each on the bass and treble sides to capture the vibrations of the entire length of the strings and body, as well as the sound's bass and treble components. The pickups are laid out in such a way as to achieve clear reproduction even during high-position soloing.
A.R.T. Preamp System (System56CB) for FGX730SC 1-way configuration. This configuration features one main pickup system consisting of two pickups underneath the saddle. The 3-band equalizer gives the ability to control the mid-range for versatile sound creation that meets the musician's needs. The system is also equipped with an onboard tuner for optimum usability.
Bracing Non-scallop, X-type bracing design. Delivers deep lows full of presence that are unique to the Yamaha sound, and a clear upper end. Response is clear and tight.
Head Design Real mother-of-pearl inlay on the headstock is standard on all models and adds a touch of class not found in this price range.
Neck Block Yamaha's original L block design offers faster transfer of string vibration to the guitar's body for greater depth and tone while enhancing stability around the neck joint.
Large Bridges The large bridge offers greater transfer of string vibration to the body producing a tight and clear mid-range with full, balanced tone. Smooth lines and edges keep the playing surface unencumbered.

"Good Fingerstyle Guitar, Great Bargain, Well Made"
Sound:
The highs ring. The lows resound. I bought this guitar after sending back my Takamine EAN10C. I didn't like the fat neck or the cedar top on the Tak. To me this Yamaha has a better sound. I also like it better than the Taylor 110e and the Martin DCX1e. I could have bought either one. I fingerpick and the neck is very playable. The only thing I would like is probable a slightly wider neck but you can go up and down the neck very comfortably. I only gave it a 9 because I do want a higher end Martin one of these days.
Feature:
The built in tuner is great. The 9 volt battery is easily changed. It has it's own slide out tray. I like that part better than the Epiphone Masterbilt I was looking at. It has a plastic piece that you slide out first to get to the battery. I was afraid I would loose it and have trouble replacing it. I like the solid Sitka Spruce top. Again a 9.
Ease of Use:
Unplugged it sounds great. Plugged into my Ultrasound Amp it is awesome. 9 here also. I'm still looking for the perfect guitar for me but this comes close.
Quality:
I bought the blem and I feel the guitar is made well. I checked out the Youtube videos of the Yamaha plant in China before my purchase and was impressed. The guitar came to me clean. No sawdust or any foreign matter in the sound hole. The wiring looks professional. There are no hanging or loose wires or connections. The battery was good that came with the guitar. I believe it is a good quality instrument that I will enjoy for years to come. It seems like someone did a great setup on it. The strings are low with no buzz.
Value:
I believe this Yamaha is a real bargain with its Solid Spruce top and laminated Rosewood back and sides.
Manufacturer Support:
I haven't dealt with the company.
The Wow Factor:
The mother of pearl trim is really pretty. Overall the guitar looks sleek. It seems well designed.
Overall:
I think I will keep this one. I would like to upgrade in a few years but until then I will be very happy with my purchase. I am not going to send this one back.

Yamaha FGX730SC Acoustic Customer Review
Sound:
ok....looked at this one. also looked at a takamine for an extra 100 bux...got the yamaha, it is definitely a fine player, however Im thinking ?I like the Takamine G serices better (EG531) and tomorrow I'm exchanging it for the taka, it was just sooo much nicer. Yamaha is very good, but you get a lot more than 100 bux worth of good feel playability, etc. I would have got it but they only had black. Turns out that is thr only color out there- and I've warmed to the black and im getting it tomorrow. the playability on the taka is amazing. right up there with the taylors and martins.
Feature:
good tone control on the yama and it is worth every cent. I can gig it at any show. But the taka....better tone control and it even sounds BETTER plugged in. I'm a' gonna make some great recordings with the takamine...
Ease of Use:
cant go wrong with this yamaha
