Visually and sonically, Taylor's 614ce 2012 guitar commands a striking stage presence. The bright, focused tone makes this guitar a favorite for performance, recording and any band setting. The Taylor 614ce Grand Auditorium has always had a bold sound due to the Big Leaf maple and Sitka spruce materials, promising a bright, crystalline timbre with strong projection and warm overtones.

The Taylor Expression System

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

Gloss Finish

The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra-violet cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Controlled overtones and balanced response make the 600 Series ideal for recording and live performance. Add the Expression System on ce models (like this one) and you have powerful guitars with stunning stage presence.

Without boring everyone with the make and models, I've played 25 years and owned every big name guitar from entry level to pro level and have enjoyed the ride. I've always stayed away from Maple back/sides because I've heard about the highs generated by Maple vs. Mahogany/Rosewood and assumed that meant a tinny, thin sound. Not so.....I should've tried this guitar long ago and saved time and money. The Spruce top with Maple sides/back give the guitar great clarity while still have a well balanced tone. You can hear the high, mids, and lows which is very rare to clearly hear all three. Add in all the beautiful Taylor appointments, playability, and Expression System, and this one is perfect for me. Yes, it is expensive. I found a Clearance deal at a local chain for 1/3 off the normal price but zZounds "blemished" deals are just as good if you ever see one on this model. I've never actually found a "blemish" on one of these - just better pricing.
