Feature:
The ability to change patches on the synth from the guitar / pickup assembly it a great feature! I have spent the last few days programming the different patches and I am very pleased. THe ability to have different strings play different patches on my synth is awesome.
Quality:
I would have rated this a 12 if the option was there. Absolutely the best piece of equipment I have ever purchased.
Value:
Again, I would have rated this a 12 as well.
Desirability:
To be able to play Pads through a synth by using my guitar is sooper sexy.
Sound:
Sound here would be how well this thing tracks. I just purchased a Roland synth and tied the two together. Man! How awesome. The thing tracks amazingly well. One thing to note it that the pickup placement is critical. I had to experiment with different placements until I got one that worked. Get the pickup place right and you won't believe how cool this unit is.
Support:
Ten just because I haven't needed it. A company that can make something that supports itself is A-OK in my book...
Overall:
I will be using this for years. I can't wait to incorporate it into our live show.

Feature:
For the price, it's the best guitar to midi avaiable. The axon is much better in terms of faster tracking and cool options like fret spil, etc. But it costs almost twice the price!!!!!
Quality:
I can notice the latency or delay in the lower strings. That's a physical reason. But let me tell you that it's very very playable. I have measure the lateny in the low E string doing this: I have recorded the natural guitar sound on the LEFT channel and the synth output in the RIGHT channel. I could do this since I have an EMU 1820 card. I set the latency to 2ms., so I have measured the difference between the natural guitar and the synth output less 2 ms from the sound card. The result is that the LOW E string has a latency of around 14-20 ms. Thas is playable. If U have a good technique it is supposed to be faster , since it is less "work" for the GI-20 to meake the convertion to MIDI.
Some people say tha the USB driver is not good at all!!! But I just use the standard MIDI out. I dont have the need to use an USB only for midi. It takes out computer power!
Value:
Just...VERY USEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desirability:
Very nice design and easy as most roland products.
Sound:
It doesnt have sounds!! Just a midi converter. Nothing to say about it.
Support:
I havent need it
Overall:
I give it a nine since it DOES ITS JOB!!! something important is your guitar: A bad guitar, a bad intonation with fret buzz with translate very bad to midi. My guitar is not optimal, so I cant use it very well!! However, I know the GI-20 very well since I used to use aguitar from a friend of mine with GK-2a. It worked very different than my bad guitar. So...I'll buy a good workin guitar.
