MXR DD11 Dime Distortion Pedal

Feature:
It came with a Dunlop 18 volt AC adaptor which is great because it doesn't use batteries. All the control knobs are integrated meaning they react to each other when making adjustments just like the controls on a good tube amp and they are very sensitive. The "Scoop" switch when turned ON gives a volume boost and instantly takes you to Dime's territory! Whoaaa ****ing Hostile!!!

Quality:
Built like brick just like all MXR pedals and it can actually be used as a self defense-crime deterrent weapon (you know what I'm talkin' about!). Outstanding quality, design and crafstmanship, no question about it. This thing is definitely built for the road!

Value:
I think it's priced just right for the quality and sound and for the collectibilty factor too. It came with a Dunlop AC adaptor and an awesome Dime Camo protective box so that's a great value right there.

Desirability:
The first issue DD-11 Dime Distortion pedals came with just a plain green paint, these new ones came with camo custom paint job! And Dime's famous image on the front! How ****ing cool is that?! In tribute to Dime's favorite pair of camo pants and shorts that he wears all the time. This would be great to pair with the Dunlop Dime Crybaby Wah From Hell!!! The MXR DD-11 Dime Distortion is definitely a keeper.

Sound:
It's an MXR what can I say and to top it off it's Dimebag's distortion pedal!! This pedal really kicks a**! It definitely has Dime's tone but can be dialed in for your "OWN" sound. Don't even compare this to the MT-2 because it is not an MT-2 wannabe. While the MT-2 seems to have a bit more gain to offer, the DD-11 has just the right amount of gain to take down your garage wall and it doesn't have that harsh, piercing, artificial, transistory, fizzy mid-range honk that the MT-2 has. But it will still piss off your neigbors. The DD-11 has tons of gain, very articulate, it responds to your playing dynamics and a truly versatile pedal. It is also a lot quieter than most high gain distortion pedals I own and have used. And most importantly it has an awesome T O N E !!!

Ease of Use:
Once you've dialed in your "Own" settings you're good! Effects on, effects off, scoop in, scoop out, that's it! I play on a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 head and a Mesa/Boogie slant cabinet loaded with 4 Celestion Vintage 30's and a 2000 Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 with a Seymour Duncan '59 on the neck and a Seymour Duncan JB on the bridge. I'm a set and forget kind of player and it took about a couple of minutes to dial in "My" sound from the DD-11 and Boom!!! We're in business!!!

Support:
Never dealt with Dunlop Mfg. before. I have a butt load of their products and so far everything is still working like brand new. My hats off to Dunlop and MXR for the creation of the DD-11. Those dudes sure know what they're doing.

Overall:
I think this pedal will last for a long long time for how well it was made. Quality is absolutely superb. I'm not worried about it. I'm just gonna enjoy it and play the living heck out of it! If it gets stolen or lost, I'll just buy another one, or two! I love this pedal and I'm very happy with it.

Feature:
I guess the main feature would be the Scoop button . When it's off u have distortion...when it's on the mids go out and u got something close to dimebag's sound and even thou there's a lot of bass and treble going on , you will get a very aggressive ,sharp and responsive (non-muffled) distortion wich sounds godly when playing those fast metal riffs or when you are doing those slow blues like bends. Then there are the Volume knob (wich I never got the courage to turn on more than half-way because it is VERY loud) , the 3 equalization knobs (Bass, Mid, Treble) each of them having a huge volume range from min to max wich is great because of the millions of potentially cool tones you can come up with. One other cool thing about this pedal is that if u turn the Gain all the way down you will get a very VERY clean sound out of it wich may be useful because the other knobs are still functional and you can use it as a preamp+equalizer for playing clean guitar, not so usefull in a LIVE situation thou because you would want to switch back and forth between clean and distortion wich got me thinking that maybe I should open it up and connect an expression pedal to that gain knob somehow.And last, there's the 18Volt AC adaptor wich comes included in the box together with the warranty and some other flyers + a short instruction manual (like who the hell is gonna read it ?).

Quality:
I haven't tried to play football with it (and I don't think I will) but it seems really sturdy and it has the looks, the feel and the weight of a brick. This pedal with it's full metal casing definitely ain't no dandelion so you can go ahead and take it out on the road and have a truck run over it because it will not break.

Value:
More expensive than other distortion pedal but it's worth every penny.

Desirability:
It looks nice with the camo pattern on it also dimebag's portrait is on it but all I really care about is it's sound because in the end people that buy this pedal are (hopefully) musicians, not art collectors and I wouldn't really care if it was this one or the old version wich was in plain green color BUT overall the design and the graphics on it are quite appealing.

Sound:
This is one mean little son of a *****. If it's plugged into a big amp ...well not THAT BIG but at least an 100W tube amp... it will bring hell on earth. It doesn't have that mid-fuzz that most distortion pedals have and also if u keep the guitar quiet while the effect is on and all volumes turned up it will be dead-quiet (some people say that is not true but i think it's they'r rest of they'r gear that cause interferences like pickups or cables or whatever).If you're looking for an aggressive yet sharp and non-muffled metal distortion than this is the pedal you should at least try.

Ease of Use:
Some people would say it sucks because it takes too long to find they'r tone but I for one like "the many buttons" because they let me mess around with the tone (and I do it all the time).

Support:
No support required up till now.

Overall:
I will be keeping and using this pedal until I raise enough money to buy myself a Krank Krankenstein wich has preety much the same distortion in it. I've played on Boss DS-1, MT, Ibanez Tube-Screamer but none of them had the tone flexibility nor the versatility of the DD-11. Besides most of the other distortion pedals that I had required some additional "helper" effects to sound well like gain or volume boosters, equalisers, compresors,noise gates etc. , but this one ...u just plug it straight into the amp and TADAAAA... sounds awesome, ofcourse you are free to experiment combinations with other effects as well but I just like how it sounds by itself. If it was lost or stolen ,wich it won't because I sleep with it under my pillow :P(kidding), I would definitely buy another one.
