Marshall TSL100 Head Customer Review
Feature:
Here no problems.. there are quite a few bits to play around with to tweak your sound. Quite nice to have the options available. Sadly when the "25w" VPR switch is engaged the cruch channel suddenly lack of every thing and the lead and clean channel sound more like a valvestate.. I would have gladly traded that VPR thing against a proper factory biasing. would have saved me a lot of time. The mute button though is much appreciated especially when doing some late night recording.. Genius Idea. Took a long time to turn up though.

Quality:
Built to last.. that's marshall. The back grill looks like it could take on a collision with a truck. No complaints there.

Value:
Well for the money it's not a bad deal. Could be better if it was setup properly in the first place and included better tubes.

Desirability:
Looks very hot. Classic Marshall. Black Gold and white. I love it, but then again that kind of a personnal thing.

Sound:
Well, the good old Marshall Sound.. Though in order to get there you have to discharge the plate voltage and re-bias the power tubes. Maybe put some new quality ones (Tesla, Groove?) while you're at it.. Stock tubes could be better to stay polite. Once this is done the clean channel is what you would expect from a marshall head: godly. The crunch channel isn't too bad but could see a lot of improvement if used with 1960AV/1960BV (with vintage 30 celestions) cabs. With G12T-75s it feels as if something is missing in the sound. I would recommend trying different cabs before buying. Though the Lead channel has much more headroom. You can get a really nice natural tube compression when the gain is set high. Great for tight shred. :)

Support:
Don't really know since i've never dealt with them for support.

Overall:
I wish i could give it a ten but i can't. These tiny mistakes that could easly be sorted out by marshall if they could be asked let the name and the product down. For the people putting down this amp (most of you mesa lovers) i suggest that you try one wich has been setup with new tubes and attached to an AV/BV cab. And for the Mesa people: This amp isn't designed with a cascade gain preamp so there is no point comparing it to a Mesa amp becuse it's a totally different thing. I totally agree that when it come to enormous gain, Mesa's sound extremely good even though they are stupidly expensive.

"The TSL100 Is One Of The Best Marshall's Ever"
Feature:
The only issue I have with this amp is the footswitch. But let me say here IF ANYONE SAYS THAT THE FOOTSWITCH BREAKS IN A MONTHS TIME, THEN THEY ARE ABUSING THE PRODUCT! I gig regularly, and I got this amp when it came out, in 1999, and I have only had one footswitch fail. It took a year and a half before it did too, and I called Marshall and I got a FREE REPLACEMENT!!! And this one has never failed. I bought a 2nd TSL 100 in 2004 and since then the footswitch has been upgraded to a more heavy duty cable, and I have had no problems with it.

Quality:
The only thing I would want to change about this amp is to update the controls in the back. The JVM has a great feature, the wet/dry control for the FX loop, which I wish I had on my TSL for my dial FX loops, plus a true bypass on it that you see on the new JCM 800 reissues. Also Marshall's idea on the JVM and Vintage Modern, to use a regular guitar chord as your footswitch cable is AWESOME!!! Come on Marshall!!! DO THIS FOR ALL YOUR AMPS!!!!

Value:
The BEST, bar none

Sound:
This Amp is my favorite. I'ved used other marshalls (The new JVM, vintage modern, and older 6100, and 4100) and Mesa Boogies (The road King, and Triple Recitfer) And this amp is the best in my opinion. Just make sure you got new tubes (if one tube is bad, they will all sound bad, that goes for any amp) a good cabinet, and a good guitar.

Ease of Use:
This amp is very easy to use, and great to customize your sound. The Bass boost, mid shift and tone shift buttons are a godsend. ANd this is the ONLY MARSHALL WITH DIAL PRESENCE KNOBS!!! great for adjusting your sound prefectly. Also The VPR is great at home and recording.

Support:
Marshall has always been easy to deal with for customer surport.
