"This IS The Marshall To Get!!!!!!"

Feature:
The Vintage Modern is very straight forward and simplistic. If you're a fan of 4 footswitchable channels and 25 knobs you're not going to find it here. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. The reverb is ok. If you're a reverb nut you won't like it but lets face it you're not buying a Marshall for it's reverb. Simple, straight forward, and built rock solid all a guitarist needs is here.

Quality:
It's a Marshall what more can I say? Marshall's and Mesa's are tanks and will probably out live it's owners.

Value:
You can not get a better rock/hard rock tone from any other amp in this price range. This amp can pur or can blow the balls off a charging rhino from a mile away. I say that value!

Desirability:
It's a very simple amp with a purple tolex wrapping. If you find purple to be sexy this is your dream.

Sound:
The tone out of this Marshall is what I've been waiting for. This is possibly the best tone out of any Marshall to come out for the last 20+ years. You can hear the strings and wood of your guitar. You also can not hide any mistakes with this amp. If you play bad it will sound bad. I read some people who reviewed this amp saying the gain is too low. No it's not! This amp has all the gain you need. It's not going to do Metallica or Godsmack because that's not what it was made to do. You definetly can capture that edgy Guns N' Roses tone from the Appettite For Destruction all the way to the new GNR era. Thats about as heavy as you're gonna get. If you need a little more boost off the high frequency mode just use an overdrive pedal for tht boost. Oh and one more thing if your volume and tone pots are of poor quality you will hear it!

Ease of Use:
The Vintage Modern is EXTREMELY easy to use. All 8 knobs are on the front. Plug in, tweak the EQ a bit, and play. There's no need to twist 25 knobs.

Support:
Never had to deal with them

Overall:
Overall this amp is a 10 straight across the board for me. It's got enough of everything and not complicated at all. Of course with any Marshall you need to tweak the EQ. It's not instant gratification. This has probably got the most dynamic gain I have ever heard from any amp. I like to call it "clean gain" because you can hear each string clearly, you can hear the wood of your guitar, and you can hear how good your electronics are inside of your guitar. This is NOT a heavy metal amp. If you're looking for chug and pound look at a Mesa Dual Rectifier. This amp was not designed to do that. You need to use your volume and tone knobs or at the very least a volume pedal if you want to cheat a bit HAHAHA!! If you do that the ammounts of different tones are endless. If you're looking for an incredibly dynamic straight forward rock/hard rock amp this is the amp you want. Now I know why Slash is using these amps over his old Jubilee's. From Hendrix to Guns N' Roses and every point in between the Vintage Modern will cover you. This is an incredible amp and it is true this is the Marshall I've been waiting for. If this amp was ever stolen I would obviously cry then run and get another ASAP! I love this amp!

"Vintage Classic Rock is Here"

Feature:
I rated an 8 here because it does not have many features besides being a basic amp. For some guitarists that is what they are looking for, as I was (so in my book its a ten), but from an overall perspective; other guitarists may feel that it lacks the multiple built in effects, multiple channals, and different levels of distortion. If you are looking for something simple, then this is it; otherwise you may be disappointed.

Quality:
I cannot deny that I, like many, shoot to get the best quality that I can when it comes to my music. I can honestly say that the quality of this amp matches my expectations and actually sometimes surprises me when I actually see how nice it is. It brings your playing up to a new level if you are upgrading to the next level in you musical investments; and I'm going to be hard pressed to find something better without simply just upgrading to a full stack as opposed to a half stack. Plus, the Purple is just cool.

Value:
As I've said before, if you watch Jimi Hendrix at Monterey and can hear that fuzz and unique distortion that cleans up when he lightens up on the guitar, or you feel that Page is able to just nail an incredible sound with his Les Paul or Double Neck; then this amp is worth the money to you. Others looking for a different sound, will likely feel that it is too much for what you get, and for those guitarists it is true.

Desirability:
It is one hell of a stage presence and truly causes me to play harder, faster, and with more soul because it is the sound I've been trying to reach since I became good enough to realize there was more to playing guitar then just knowing the chords. Right there with more purchases of my Les Paul, Strat, and Double Neck.

Sound:
The Vintage in the name says it all. I gave it a nine though, because while the gain portion of the amp is almost soley for that old school rock n' roll sound, at lower pre-amp settings you can get a very crystal clear acoustic sound. I play electric mainly, but my friend has the Fender Acoustic and it too has a great sound. However why it wasn't a ten is, if you are buying this amp, then you must expect to have that fuzzy grundgy gain of the 60s and 70s. Lots of Hendrix, Clapton, and Zeppelin in this amp. Don't expect to find the heavy death metal sound from this amp, its not made for that. If your looking for that vintage classic rock sound, as I was, then this amp is definitely what you are looking for.

Ease of Use:
This amp is very much one where you not only play the guitar but you play the amp. It is simple enough to get on it and start jammin', but if you want to use the full purpose and ability of the amp you'll need to start learning how to play the amp and not just the guitar. (Playing the amp means understanding the connection between your guitar controls and the amp, and how the sound is effected)

Support:
I've not had any problems, however I was able to go online and find information regarding my amp that assisted in setup and initial playing around.

Overall:
For me a it would actually be a 10. Others would say less. I know for a fact that any sound or effect I'm looking for played through this with the purchase of quality pedals and extra concentration in practice can be acheived. Love it, and have never regretted not buying anything else; except maybe the other cabinet to make it a full stack.

About This Product!
Description
Docs
The 2466 100-watt head is an all-valve, single-channel amplifier with a choice of 2 "dynamic ranges" selectable by footswitch. The Low range equates to the performance you would come to expect from a stock vintage Marshall amplifier in terms of tone and available gain. The High range adds an extra preamp valve into the signal path, facilitating those classic hard rock tones of the 70s. Add to this, the ability to dynamically interface with your instrument's Volume and Tone controls and the experience translates into a truly expressive and organic feel in performance.

Two "frequency selective" pre-amp volumes (gains) -- Body and Detail -- facilitate greater flexibility of tonal shaping for individual guitars and styles while the power amplifier is heavily based on the first Marshall amplifiers to be produced, with 4 x KT66 output valves yielding that substantial fat and smooth tone. A Mid Boost switch on the front panel fattens the tone even more while a traditional Marshall tone control circuit enables fine tuning of your sound.

Vintage and Modern
These are 2 words that don't normally sit comfortably together unless you're talking guitar amplification. The Vintage aspect of course, the tone-fat, smooth, classic and dynamic. The Modern aspect is the feature-set included to enable ease of use and flexibility -- master volume, series FX loop, extra overdrive for those hot "modded" sounds, onboard reverb and a new frequency selective pre-amp topology to facilitate tonal tailoring for specific instruments and musical styles.
