Product Description

Martin's history from the 19th century onward is storied and famous. One thing they haven't done is ignore their roots. The Martin DCX1E takes a look to the past which is Martin's classic dreadnought body shape and mahogany construction but keeps an eye focused toward the future with Fishman Classic 4 Sonicore electronics and a Stratabond neck.

Martin DCX1E: Trustworthy construction.

Whenever guitar players reach for an acoustic their first choice will always be a Martin. The Martin DCX1E is constructed from high-pressure laminate wood back and sides that perfectly complement its solid Sitka spruce top. Solid wood construction lets the DCX1E age and mature in sound as you play it. High-pressure laminate wood made from wood fibers provide the same sturdy construction of solid woods but without the depletion of trees needed to harvest them. Martin doesn't cut corners and knows that professionals and amateurs both need access to guitars that will last them a lifetime. Whether recording at home or playing on the stage the Martin DCX1E should handle both settings with equal aplomb.

The Martin DCX1E features a Stratabond neck with a low oval shape for increased player playing comfort and a Micarta fretboard for easy movement around it. Fishman's Classic 4 Sonicore electronics round out the guitar. The Fishman Classic 4 Sonicore allows you to recreate the Martin DCX1E's unplugged sound on stage without the piezo quacky-ness and filtered sound you get from lower quality acoustics. The Martin DCX1E's electronics lets you dial in your own tone with built-in volume, bass and treble controls. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Martin products.

Sound: I had an HD-28 for over 20 years and this matches the sound (and even may surpass it). I feel the familiar "Martin reverberation" in my chest when I play. Simply the best. Feature: Nice electronics, but it doesn't clutter itself up with unnecessary features. Just a pure pleasure to play and listen to. Ease of Use: I had a setup done to lower the action a bit and it now plays better than any other guitar I've ever held (in my 42nd year of playing). Quality: Seems light, but sturdy. I will be careful though, considering the unfinished top and back. Value: Worth more than my HD-28 (bought in 1982 for $2000)! A real steal! Manufacturer Support: Haven't need any The Wow Factor: Beautiful in its' simplicity. Overall: I'm getting up there and if this lasts as long as the HD-28 did, it will be the last guitar I own!

"Good at twice the price!"
Sound: When I purchsed this guitar I played about 12 different makes and models before choosing this one. Overall this had the best sound. It even had a decent sound when compared to a Martin that was 3 times the price. Feature: The subtleness of this guitar are brilliant. I like the natural finish, the lack of fret markers on the fingerboard enhances rather than detracts from this. The tuners are good, although the nut could do with some lubricant added in the store setup. The pickups work well, although I'm yet to use them for a gig or jamming. Ease of Use: How is a quality instrument ever hard to use? Quality: I'd say that for the money this instrument is hard to beat. You can get better sounding and (simmilar) playing guitars, but they are far more expensive. The spruce top and HPL sides and back are terrific for this price range. Value: When it outshines more expensive instruments you know its good value. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had a problem to send to the company. Overall: I bought this to be my main acoustic. I didn't want to fall into the trap of spending too much money to be too afraid to play my baby. So this instrument fits the bill nicely.
