In addition to being a gateway to the high speed and enormous channel capacity that USB offers, the MIDISPORT 8x8/s may also be connected to the "legacy" serial ports of older computers. Rock-solid drivers on both Apple Computer and PC, full SMPTE implementation, and the ability to run multiple units simultaneously are just a few of the reasons this interface is the one to choose. Add to that stand-alone MIDI patchbay operation, a MIDI cable tester, and an easy-to-read front panel design, and it's easy to see why the MIDISPORT 8x8/s is the most sought after multi-port MIDI interface on the market today.

Reads and writes 24, 25, 29.97, 30 drop, or 30 non-drop frame LTC SMPTE formats.

Converts LTC to MIDI Time Code (MTC) for syncing any MTC capable software.

Selectable "flywheel" that can be set to any value from 1 frame to 255 frames, or forever.

Can perfectly regenerate even the worst SMPTE Time Code.

Performs "JAM" sync in all modes.

"Electronic / hardware problems were not fixed by MAudio."
Sound: no comment - it's MIDI after all, not audio Feature: When it worked it was decent. Quality: After about 6 months of use, I started having problems with the interface - upon power on, it did not connect properly. I reported the problem to MAudio, and they said it was a "known problem" and asked me to send it back to them. I did, and when I got it back, it still had the problem. I talke to them again, and they sent me a chip to install. I installed, and then the problem only happened about 50% of the time. Just recently, it has returned to being a full-time problem. I therefore rate the quality as extremely poor. Value: It's useless to me now. Manufacturer Support: They tried, and failed. The Wow Factor: I bought this unit for excellent price/port ratio. Overall: It really is useless now - I got about 6 months steady service and six months of unsteady service overall.

M-Audio MidiSport 8x8 Customer Review
Quality: I've had two of these, and both died the same way. Suddenly the thing will just blink at you, and refuse to recognize the computer. When the first one went, I thought it was just bad luck. When the second one went, I realized you get what you pay for. Tech support is pretty bad too. 'limited lifetime warrenty' my behind.
