Mapex is the factory brand name for drums made by KHS Manufacturing Company and one of only a few drum brands made in its own factory and having its own distribution center in the US. This Distribution and Service Center is located in Nashville, Tennessee. KHS makes all types of percussion as well as fine band and orchestra instruments. KHS craftspeople possess extraordinary knowledge about how quality sound and functions is produced from all types of wood and metal, including precious metals. Hardware is tough enough to take heavy players. I wish they sold seperate ride and floor toms.
Quality:
The finish is fairly durable, but will scratch if contact with other drums or equipment. I would suggest cases if you move them alot or play out alot.

they are very nice looking drums,I have the burgandy set and they look great on stage under the lights or anywhere else.
Sound:
Awesome natural tone, great for beginners or advanced drummers. Easy tuning and durable. Great sounding at any volume. Put a mike on the kick drum for live gigs with sound damper rings on the toms and snare and you have the perfect mix in low to medium volume situations.
Support:
I wish they sold seperate ride and floor toms in other sizes.
Overall:
This is my extra set for playing smaller gigs and jamming with other bands. My regular set that I use in our studio is a vintage early 70's 10 piece custom ludwig with 26in bass drums and all over sized toms.

Great kit for the price
Quality:
Can't complain, the drums are great. The bass pedal and hihat stand are a bit cheap but fine for practising on. Ive upgraded mine for gigging though
