I own the rack version of this synth (MS2000R) for 8 months now, and I'm still impressed by the sound quality and tweakability of this baby! Only thing missing:more polyphony, 4 voices is rather limiting (for pads anyway). Everything else is pure heaven: the ergonomics, very user-friendly, etc...
For people contemplating buying it, here's a few useful things to know: every knob (and there are 35 of them) sends, and can receive midi CC changes, when editing a parameter it's value is displayed on the LCD screen in real-time, a small LED lights up when you put the knob to the original value used in the patch(very useful), no battery inside needed to hold patches in memory (uses non-volatile RAM), very high speed DSP providing fast real-time tweaking without audible "steps", MOD sequencer can record real-time tweaks of any knob up to 16 steps, LFO's can sync to clock, and the list could go on and on...
It's closest rival, the Roland JP8080 has more voices, but only 12 bands Vocoder (MS2000R has 16 bands the more bands mean more intelligible vocoder output), has a slightly slower DSP (fast tweaking of the Filter Cutoff reveals this), and is more expensive. (and has been discontinued by the way).
But don't take my word for it, go try the MS2000 in a music store and take your time, you'll probably end-up buying it! (like I did)
Alain.

I have owned an MS2000 for about 2 years and I would have to say that this machine is capable of making the coolest and fattest sounds of any virtual analog synth. You have total control over the sound and can make really interesting arpeggios on the 16 step sequencer. The arpeggios are not only note changes, but almost any parameter on the synth can be arpeggiated. It also makes a really cool vocoder. One of the most interesting and hypnotic sounds I ever heard was when I ran an Ibanez RG470 into the input of my MS2000. I ran the guitar through a lowpass filter and 2 arps controlling cutoff and resonance. Add a lot of delay and a little wah from the guitar and I was in a trance. My only possible complaint about this incredible machine is the fact that it only has a max of 4 note polyphony and is not truely multitimbral.
I would highly reccomend this machine to anyone who loves to totally shape their own sounds and who wants to add a very distinct flavor to their music.
