Merry Christmas to me. After reading up on all of them in this price range $2-300, i pulled the trigger on this one. Read on for my honest opinion. The paint was done well. Neck joint was tight and feels really solid. Pickups are quite hot really. Plenty of bottom and crisp highs. The mids r a tiny bit low. But i have a knob on my amp and distortion pedal to take care of that. Sound like you could summon Satan himself when palm muting and hit the distortion. They're not for gigging with though. You will have a handful keeping this beast under control at stage volume. Then again, this isn't that guitar. I did lower them a bit as it would try to dirty up my clean channel. No big deal. I wouldn't swap em out on this guitar. Because, You'll spend the price of the whole guitar to do so. The bridge is okay. Nothing special. This is an area where they had to save some money. Though i understand that. Not even going to knock them for it. There is a hipshot bridge that will work on this thing. It's about half the price of the guitar. But the jackson bridge definitely does it job. And new mounting holes will need to be drilled. Talk about measure twice and cut once. I did have to polish the frets as they were a tad bit tarnished. The fretwork overall was a nice surprise for a cheap guitar. Honestly, i expected to have to sand/file the ends over. Nope. It was just sitting around a bit before I bought it. The tuners are another pleasant surprise for an entry level instrument. Be read more sure to tighten the nuts on the headstock. Don't forget the mounting screws either. And because i like a lil resistance when tuning, i tightened the button screws also. The nut wasn't cut too well. I know that this is sometimes the case with instrumens in any price range. It only needed a few light passes with file to get it just right. I'm talkin about maybe a 64th of width and ever so slight angle on the back side. Between the adjustments to the nut, tuners, and Innotation, it stays in tune like a much for expensive guitar. Without a doubt in my mind. Though a harder nut (which ever brand you like) is going to be done here before too long. The setup was pretty close. Innotation, not so much. It didn't like having 10's on it. The neck just didn't want to straighten out for me. I tightened the truss rod pretty tight. To the point where i feared breaking it. That being said, once i just put 9's on, she was perfect. This guitar is not shoddy or subpar at all. Perfect for anyone just starting to play or just learning how to get down on a 7 string (me). A brand new player might want to have their teacher or guitar guy to go thu it. To back track a bit, the packaging was impressive. The outer carton was huge and nicely stuffed the actual Jackson box. The inner Jackson carton was also neatly and securely done. Awesome job zZounds. So, overall i definitely would recommend this instrument.
