Flat mahogany back. True-Duo humbucker pickups. Lightweight/comfortable S shape.

One of the most popular designs in Ibanez history, the SA was designed for players who wanted the S combination of lightweight comfort with heavy mahogany tones--but with a flat back. It's also one of the most versatile designs and the first Ibanez to offer True-Duo pickups in a dual humbucker configuration. If you need to cover a wide range of styles and tones with just one guitar, this is the one guitar.

Comfortable S shape, size and arched top with a standard flat back. Combination of mahogany, SAT tremolo and true single and true humbucking tones offers incredible versatility.

It looks great, It plays just as good, You wont be a typical Ibanez RG'er (which 90% of Ibanez owners own because they never considered unique models). If your careful and you take good care of it, this guitar will last for many years from what i seen

Sound
Great sound and tone, although the stock humbucker pickups have some trouble hitting good mid ranges... if you are good with your amp you can work it out. As far as wood and body tone... your buying an Ibanez... if you care about those tones go buy a fender and pretend your sounding better. If you are displeased put more gain and effects on, why the hell not?

Features
Just about everything on this guitar is great. If your looking for a specific sound with your pick-ups you might be dissapointed in the humbuckers, but they are built more for versatility then personal preferance. With the volumne and tone control knobs you can switch between many different combinations of pickup styles allowing you to find the right sound.

Ease of Use
Excellent, the low action and very responsive fretboard allow me to play fast hammer-ons and pull-offs, making tapping a breeze and allows connecting licks more easily. It doesnt take long to learn the Humbucker modes either, just an hour or two of switching those modes and you'll become used to it.

Quality
So far everything on this guitar keeps itself up alright... read more The only true issue i have is with the bridge, it seems to have trouble keeping itself adjusted, so if your a vai wannabe whammy wanker like me keep it under control (impossible), or adjust your whammy sensitivity before going nuts... ive probably broken 5 strings and had to readjust my brige twice because of whammy use (nothing too extreme... not even dimebag harmonic squeels) Oh, and keep this thing clean, especially if you get it in white, its a dust magnet and you can see every spec.

Value
I paid $575 for this guitar at a local guitar shop, (you can get it for $500 on sites like these). Most people i meet think its upwards of $700 and honestly ive played guitars worth much more that dont even compare to the look feel and quality of this guitar.

Manufacturer Support
I have had to have my bridge readjusted once, wasnt sure how at the time, everything worked out fine. Just took it to the local Guitar-Smith and he fixed it up.

The Wow Factor
Id have to say the Inlays and the Abiloni trim give this guitar a unique look. (I have never seen a guitar other than this that has these inlays, or similar trim.) When i took it to the local guitar shop the owner actually was interested in the guitar, he had never stocked this exact model before and the only Ibanez customers were typical RG'ers. This is no lie, he looked at the guitar and it reminded him of GUESS WHAT?! The JEM-7 Steve Vai signiture. Not only did its sexy awsomeness somewhat resemble vai's guitar... he felt obligated to let me play one of vai's signatures (autographed). I played for a total of 50 seconds before realising i wasnt worthy and gave it back, but still Vai actually touched that guitar.... i had Vai's skin cells on my hands!!! All because this guitar is unique and beautiful. +11 Oh and did i meantion i have never seen a live person even looking at this guitar? except the people i meet of course.
