What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Mahogany body Rich, warm, focused sound; added sustain
DiMarzio D Activator pickups Big and tough tone
Gibraltar Standard bridge Thick low end with endless sustain
Bound rosewood fretboard Warm rosewood tone; beautiful binding

Sure, Ibanez's IC500 Iceman has a flashy body shape, but it has much more to offer to players. Set-neck construction, DiMarzio active pickups, and a string-through bridge make this guitar a rock-solid option for hard rock players looking to stand out.

Wicked Cool Edges

The Iceman's dramatic cutaway and flowing body shape make it unlike any other guitar. The IC500 carves that shape from mahogany, making for a guitar with a warm and rich sound. The binding encompasses the body, neck, and headstock and contrasts with any finish you choose, adding a further layer of distinction to the guitar. Ibanez's Gibraltar Standard bridge routes the strings through the body for more resonance.

Active, Articulate DiMarzio Pickups

The Iceman is almost as well-known for sporting DiMarzio D Activator pickups as it is for its unique body shape. The IC500 carries on this legacy with DiMarzio's latest updates to the active pickups. Both the bridge and neck versions use coils tuned to specific frequencies and have resonance points within the pickups shifted to better respond to pick attack and bring out rich harmonics. DiMarzio has worked to ensure there is no volume spike when shifting between pickups and both operate without batteries, so there's no fear of your sound deadening out on stage.

Set Neck Adds Stability

Set in to the mahogany body is the Iceman's 3-piece mahogany and maple neck. The decision to join the neck to the body rather than bolt it on adds sustain to single notes read more and helps promotes the guitar's overall resonance. The neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard that features 24 medium frets. You'll have no problem reaching the highest frets, as the Iceman's cutaway practically invites your hands to the top.

In addition to its Mahogany body dressed in glossy finish and a contrasting binding, this version of the Ibanez original also boasts gleaming pearl block inlays on its bound Rosewood fretboard. The IC500 Iceman guitar's set-in neck assures powerful sustain, and the medium frets are preferred by players who like a little more flesh-to-fingerboard feel.

There's only one major issue with this guitar. It is really, REALLY neck heavy. That aside it's great. Plays great, sounds even better. After breaking the guitar in, it finally stays in tune even with new strings. It is the coolest looking guitar ever made (IMHO). One interesting feature is it's SG like neck placement. The 12 fret is right at the center point of the guitar. If you've played an SG you know what I'm talking about. It also just looks really cool hanging up on the wall!!!
