Description
Docs
When Artcore guitars debuted in summer 2002, they turned the music industry upside down. No longer were full and semi-acoustic guitars just big expensive jazz boxes for jazz players -- even some of their competitors bought them (no, we're not making this up). With Artcore guitars you get an amazingly affordable price plus the quality and tone you expect from Ibanez, the guitar company with over four decades of experience making full and semi-acoustic guitars.

Features
Medium output Artcore pickups accurately reproduce the cool, complex tones of a hollow AND work well with effects.

The great upper fret access and sustain of a set-in neck at the price of a bolt-on.

Mahogany neck material provides rich warm lows and sweet sustain.

Ibanez FWD60 Artcore Electric Guitar Reviews

"AMAZED at the value for the money. Excellent guitar."
Feature:
It's simple, doesn't exactly blow you away with a ton of bells and whistles. But the volume and tone controls are both really responsive. I'd like a set of knobs for each pickup, but not necessary- there's a lot to be said for simplicity and ease-of-use.

Quality:
For the money it's the best hollowbody I've ever played. I tried out a bunch of Jay Tursers and Epiphones in the approximate price range (within $50) and none came close in terms of playability and sound.

Value:
Note for note, lick for lick there are VERY few guitars with such an even quality-to-price ratio. To get a better sound, better playing axe you've got to spend double what this baby goes for. I got mine used in FANTASTIC shape for just a little over $200.

Desirability:
Yeah- soon as I saw this thing hanging on the wall I wanted to try it. It's definitely a sexy shape and finish. After 30 seconds of trying it I wanted to buy it- so I did. It'd be nice if they put one out in different finishes though. I'd like just a natural wood finish with a thin clear coat- it would look pretty sweet. But as it is, it's a cool color for sure.

Sound:
I LOVE the sound. Exactly what I wanted in a hollowbody without being too bulky. REAL nice cleans through ANY amp, I've tried it on tubes, solid state, and everything from 15watt combos to 100watt stacks. It doesn't do so well with distortion a little too much echo maybe for a pure over-driven sound. But I already have a Strat and Les Paul- so I don't need a decent distorted sound.

Ease of Use:
Handles great VERY playable neck and comfortable body shape. Lack of separate tone and volume controls for each pickup make it a breeze to use. I'm not wild about where the top strap button is- behind the neck. I would have preferred it on the top horn- as it might be better balanced that way, but I usually play this one sitting down anyway so it's not a major concern.

Support:
Haven't needed any, only just bought it. There should be an N/A choice in this category.

Overall:
I dont' think I'll ever get rid of it. The value on it was just too good, and it fills a nice little niche just outside the range of my Strat and my LP. This is something I won't bring to ever band practice or gig- but for certain sounds for recording or gigging I'm sure I'll never out-grow this guitar.

"an awesome guitar at a great price"
Feature:
this guitar really caught my eye because of the strange shape and bright color. it has a really smooth neck, and a great tone knob. i can make sound sharp and bright, or really muted and dull.

Quality:
it's great quality. my dad has a $900 guitar and i'd say this one can easily compare. for $250 used, thats pretty good

Value:
great value! definitly worth it!

Desirability:
it has a great shape and color, and an extremly good finish. really is eye-catching.

Sound:
i just got this guitar a few hours ago and its great. a really good sound, even distorted.

Ease of Use:
it has an awesome tone. clean sounds great, and so does some distortion. it'll work with anything.

Support:
i dunno. i bought it used, so i don't really have an answer.

Overall:
this guitar gave me a new respect for ibanez. i'm in a punk/garage band and this guitar is perfect for me (thats why i rated it all 10).
