Born from a long lineage of stringed instruments, the acoustic guitar is steeped in tradition. But music continues to evolve, and musicians demand inspiring new tools with which to carve out their own signature sound. Fueled by this, we developed Ibanez AE, our flagship series of acoustic-electric guitars, designed specifically for the acoustic performer.

The AE body shape features contemporary design elements to achieve high playability and create a well-balanced sound that adheres to the concept of the AE series. The combination of the specially designed Scalloped X Bracing and Tone Projection Back Bracing produces a versatile sound character. A rich sustain is provided, which works for both finger and plectrum playing. With great clarity, the AE500's combination of Solid Sitka Spruce and Solid Rosewood generates a dynamic frequency range from deep lows to sparkling highs. It enhances the versatility of AE to match any playing style, from aggressive strumming to fingerpicking. The fretboard inlay has a delicate but dynamic design. The mother of pearl inlays give a sophisticated feel to the guitar.

The compact, on-board active preamp simply features a mute switch to eliminate unexpected parameter changes during performances. This helps reduce the guitar#s size and weight, minimize body contact, and maximize the acoustic tone. The newly designed under-the-saddle pickup equalizes the volume from each string and delivers a well-balanced signal. The natural acoustic tone from read more this active circuit is remarkably stable and resists noise. It will support performances on stage, from solos to ensembles.

Great sounding Top Ibanez Line Acoustic. Unplugged, very nice tone. With pre-amp great plugged in. zZounds does great deals... but setup lacks. I paid for a basic setup... action still has problem. Taking it to Portland's best warranty Luthier next week. I know setup will be perfect. Most guitars get returned because of poor setup... instead of new owner getting it setup right.
Sound
Top of Line. Sound is great.
Features
The bump in back of neck/fretboard might be a problem for some fingering, otherwise... I love this guitar.
Ease of Use
Very, should be perfect after a "Barrett" setup.
Quality
It's new but looks to be well made.
Value
Great. UNDER $1,200, solid woods, Spruce, Rosewood... great electronics. Inlay is nice. Few all solid comparables... Yamaha... but smaller A3CR not as good a sound... A3R, dreadnought close. Preamp and Inlay way better with Ibanez.
Manufacturer Support
No
