Powerful Humbuckers with Coil Tapping and More

The Les Paul Standard wields two of Gibson's celebrated Burstbucker(r) Pro pickups. These powerful humbuckers deliver the bold, thick tones of a classic Les Paul with robust mid-range and engrossing low-end. This Les Paul takes things a step further with versatile split coil functionality. Both volume knobs double as a push-pull switches which transform their respective Burstbucker into a tuneful single-coil pickup. Beyond the coil tapping, one of the tone knobs functions as a phase switch while the other engages a 'pure bybass' feature which sends a signal directly from the bridge pickup to the output jack. With the clear, ringing tones of the single-coil setting and the fat, thumping tones of the humbucker, the 2013 Les Paul Standard offers an enormous range of excellent sonic textures to work with.

Built for Quality and Comfort

In addition to the electronic configuration, this release includes a redesigned compounded radius fretboard for smooth playability from top to bottom. The neck is in the classic '60s slim taper profile, and joined with a deep running set tenon -- one of the fundamental ingredients to that classic Gibson sustain. A high-quality Switchcraft output jack ensures a perfect connection to your cable allowing the purest signal to leave the guitar. Locking Grover tuners enhance tuning stability and make string changes a breeze. Tone Pros Tune-o-Matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece ensure precise intonation and solid connection between the strings and the body for maximum sustain and tone.

Pickups and Electronics

Burstbucker Pro pickups deliver the Gibson legacy of muscular, defined tone. In addition to volume control, each volume knob splits a humbucker to single coil. Frequency-tuned 'Fat Tap' coil tapping creates a fatter single coil tone with great output and balance when switching from dual to single coils. Single coil configurations are specially designed to be hum-reducing.

In addition to controlling tone, one tone knob is a phase switch which allows for new tonal flavors, especially when used in combination with the coil-splitting feature. The other engages the 'Pure Bypass' circuit which sends the bridge pickup signal straight to the output jack to deliver the most direct, pure and dynamic signal possible.
