With the '57 Les Paul Custom, the Gibson Custom Shop stunningly recreates these iconic instruments as part of the VOS -- or Vintage Original Spec -- series. Complete with three Burstbucker pickups, elegant "Black Beauty" looks, and a genuine Bigsby tremolo system, this guitar captures all the magic of an original Les Paul Custom.

Genuine Les Paul Sound and Specs

By 1957, the ground-breaking 'PAF' humbuckers already came standard on most Les Pauls. The Les Paul Custom took things a step further with the added option of a third pickup. The '57 VOS Custom uses three gibson Burstbuckers(r) which gush with the classic rock snarl of an original '50s humbucker. Also true to many high-end Les Pauls of the era, this release includes a Bigsby tremolo system for another layer of sonic versatility. The neck is in a comfortable '50s rounded profile and joined to the non-weight-relieved body with a deep-running tenon. The result is an astounding degree of the classic Gibson sustain.

"Black Beauty" Looks

The Les Paul Custom of the 1950s offered players a gorgeous new look with an elegant black finish and enticing gold hardware. The cream binding on the read more back and sides beautifully juxtaposes with the black exterior, while the distinctive headstock inlay denotes this as a guitar of unsurpassed quality. Like the rest of the VOS series, this guitar has been finished with a period-accurate gloss and aged to give the authentic appearance of an over-50-year-old guitar with all the dings and scratches you'd expect. read less

Gibson 1957 Les Paul Custom VOS

In 1957, "Patent Applied For" humbuckers became standard issue on both the Les Paul Model and the Les Paul Custom. To go along with its already upscale appointments, the Les Paul Custom was made available with either two or three of these quiet, powerful new pickups. Now part of Gibson's proprietary new Vintage Original Spec series -- the next step in the journey toward perfection. This version of the Gibson 1957 Les Paul Custom VOS has 3 pickups, for extra output and more tonal variation.

Vintage Finish
Aged to perfection, Gibson VOS (Vintage Original Specs) guitars undergo an "aging process" for an oxidized finish and all the dings and scratches you would expect from a well-worn guitar. VOS series guitars look and feel like a 50-year-old guitar should.
