The ES-137 Classic combines 2 classics -- the look of Gibson's single-cutaway semi-hollowbody guitars and the hot sound of a Gibson Les Paul Classic. The 490R and 498T humbucking pickups, plus trapezoid fingerboard inlays with an engraved "C" in the 12th-fret inlay, identify this new classic model. Learn More...

"A very classy, solid instrument"
I recently purchased this guitar after being thwarted in securing an ES-135. I was looking for the more classic trapeze style tailpiece and was very attracted to the 135's price level. However, one look at the 137 and those considerations went out the window. I had to have it. It so new I haven't yet explored all of the sonic possibilities, but after a test runs with both of my amps, I know it's going to be a happy 'relationship'. Until I can afford an ES-175 (possibly never!), I'm happy to have the next best thing. A beautiful piece of work.

"Photos do no justice! Gotta be seen to be believed."
Feature:
No accessories, except for the Gibson case, which is just a sweetheart. wish they included some maintenance info. You'll spend much time getting it dialed in.

Quality:
The finger guard looked unpolished & even unsanded. There was a chunk of polishing cloth wedged under the neck. Can't get it out without scratching.

Value:
It's such a beauty that it's worth the price. It's freaking awesome to see!

Desirability:
All of the above ring true. This is one gorgeous axe, man. When you pull this baby out at the gig, you better be playing!

Sound:
Fantastic sound in comparison with my other axes, Gretch Clipper, etc. As a jazz man of 40 years, at last i can say that I hear the sound I waited for.

Overall:
always wanted a Gibson. This one is thin letting you hold it closer. Sound is jazz club. I'll hand it down to the grandkids in 50 years.
