GForce M-Tron VST Mellotron Plugin (Macintosh and Windows)
The M-Tron (tm) is a software simulation of the classic tape playing instrument the Mellotron (tm). The M-Tron is available for both Mac and PC platforms and contains over 100 classic Tape Banks including Strings, Choirs, Flutes and Brass along with some of the most amazing rhythms you'll ever hear.

When pressed, each key on the original instrument moved a tape head onto a piece of tape to play the note or sound. In order that we replicate the original instrument's tone as closely as possible each individual tape has been sampled and coded into the M-Tron. Each key on the M-Tron plays an individual recording of these tapes. Once the eight seconds of tape has been played it is simply re-wound. As with the original there are no loop points giving the instrument a unique playing characteristic. zZounds is an authorized dealer of G-Force products.

Sound: This sounds fantastic....you really listen to the Beatles in a differnt light figuring out that alot of the random things going on during : "I am the Walrus" and "Strawberry fields" comes from these bank sounds. The Bassoon+flute patch is worth the price alone....and of course the "Strawberry fields" flute that Fiona Apple seems to love also. Feature: The addition of Attack and Release add a lot to the realism..or unrealism.....I would have liked to have some type of combine function.. Quality: Amazing....Dont know how i survived without this software Value: Well worth the general price of $100 Manufacturer Support: I wrote an email...did not hear back yet so I will leave this incomplete The Wow Factor: I mean its a soft synth....kinda looks like a mellotron...That selector button could be alot better... Overall: A must for anyone.....It has totally expanded my creative ideas..

Sound: Sounds are from a real Mellotron, not virtually recreated. Feature: You won't find tons of features, but this is an exact replica of the real Mellotron. Anything more would be overkill. It does what is expected and that's all I want. Quality: The sounds are genuine. You can buy expansion packs for cheap from G-Media resellers. They actually hunted down custom Mellotrons from around the world to make the additional banks. Value: This plugin is so cheap I can hardly believe it. Yet it is stable, sounds great, and is everything I could ask for. Manufacturer Support: I emailed them once and they replied back in 24 hours. The Wow Factor: If you want the sounds of the Mellotron, this is the plugin to get! Forget samples CDs in other formats. They don't compare. Overall: Overall this is an excellent plugin! I cannot understand the other review as he posted his concern on November 2004 yet he is running Windows 98 SE? No wonder he is having problems. I am running this on OS X 10.3.5 and have used it in Logic, Live, and Digitla Performer with no problems. I also have all the sound banks. This plugin is beyond awesome!
