The Fender American Special Stratocaster brings American-made craftsmanship to a wallet-friendly price range. This Strat boasts plenty of tonal punch, thanks to its Texas Special pickups and Greasebucket tone circuits.
An Affordable American Dream
American-made Fender guitars are regarded as the company's top models due to their production quality and attention to detail. You'll feel that dedication come through in this guitar's playability, from the smoothness of the neck and frets down to the setup of the bridge.
Lock in Your Tone
The American Special Stratocaster makes dialing in your own signature sound easy. Its three Texas Special pickups are well-known for their spicy, overwound sound which lends attitude to crunchy blues or rock licks. Plug your American Special Strat into a tube amp, roll up the volume, and hear how the pickups help cultivate organic overdriven sounds. The five-way pickup selector switch lets you smoothly shift between a variety of pickup combinations, from full-bodied neck pickup rhythm tones to twangy sounds from the bridge. Greasebucket tone circuits help to cut down on treble without boosting the bass output -- helpful for guitarists looking to evoke warm, fuzzier blues tones.
The large '70s-style headstock on the American Special Stratocaster is a nod to classic Strats, setting this model apart from its modern contemporaries. The vintage-style synchronized tremolo is ready for dive bombs and upward bends alike. Aside from these vintage-style appointments, the American Special Stratocaster is thoroughly modern. The maple neck is a contemporary C-shape, coated in a gloss urethane finish for faster playing.

For over five decades, guitarists looking to move up to the next level have looked to the American Fender Stratocaster. The USA Strat has been in a class of its own, but for many musicians, the price tag has been just a bit too high. Now, though, with the release of the Fender American Special series, guitarists are able to get a US-built Stratocaster for less than ever before.
The American Special Stratocaster has a series of accoutrements making it a great guitar in its own right, beyond the performance and build quality that come with made-in-the-USA Strats. For one, the American Special has a full set of 3 Texas Special Strat pickups, for a little more heat than your average Stratocaster. It's also got Greasebucket tone circuits, so if you want to roll off high frequencies from your tone you won't boost the bass accidentally - a common frustration for single-coil players. The American Special Strat also has a vintage-style two-point vibrato with bent steel sides for great note bends, 22 jumbo frets, and a large 70's-style headstock. This guitar's alder body has a gloss urethane finish, and makes great use of it.
The Fender American Special Stratocaster makes the legendary guitar an attainable goal for more guitarists than ever.
