Durability and focus in the center via a 5 mil patch. Moved to the underside, the dot is out of the way for brushes.

This head lasts a good while, you can get many gigs out of it (unless you're a basher).
Sound:
Sound quality is excellent, I use this head if a Remo Coated Black Dot is not available - one item of note: This head takes longer to 'seat' than other heads. I suggest playing on it for a day longer prior to using it on a gig. However, once it is seated in place, the sound is wonderful. I use it on my Ludwig LM402.
