ESP LTD DJ600 Dan Jacobs Signature Electric Guitar

No longer available at zZounds
24.75 in. scale. Floyd Rose original tremolo. EMG 81/85 pickups with Afterburner push/pull boost.

ESP Guitars has added 2 new Signature Series guitars to their LTD brand: the DJ-600 Dan Jacobs model, and the TM-600 Travis Miguel model. Both are based on custom models created by the 2 guitarists from the band Atreyu. The 2 guitars are among ESP's 22 new models introduced at Winter NAMM 2006.

The LTD DJ-600 is Dan Jacobs' signature model. It features an aggressive angular-shaped Mahogany body with a Snow White finish and dripping blood graphic. A set-thru 24.75 in. design, the DJ-600 implements a 3-piece Maple neck with a Rosewood 22-fret fingerboard and custom bat-shaped inlays. Black binding surrounds both the head and body. Hardware on the DJ-600 includes a Floyd Rose original tremolo, Sperzel locking tuners, and EMG 81/85 pickups with Afterburner push/pull boost.

"Dan and Travis are exemplary members of the ESP family," says Allen Steelgrave, ESP Director of Marketing and Artist Relations. "First and foremost, they love their LTDs, and have been supporting LTD from day one. We're happy to have the opportunity to create two great guitars with their names on them."

"Amazing Work of Art"

I started on a Drive Wildfire, then I got my F-100FM, now I have this guitar and I know I'm set for awhile. Thie guitar has everything I need. Floy Rose, Mahogany Body, EMGS. Yeah, I'm pretty content with this beast.

Sound
I played this guitar on 2 amps, my tiny drive amp and a Krank amp(can't remember what model) at a music store. On the Krank it sounded fantastic although I didn't have much time to mess around with the settings. On my drive amp, it's not bad at all but not something you would wanna play live. Cleans are good and Distortion is great.

Features
EMG 81 and 85 combo, EMG afterburner, Sperzel locking tuners, original Floyd Rose with locking nut, Mahogany Body and one insanely awesome paintjob. Yeah, this will have me set and happy for awhile.

Ease of Use
It's pretty easy to use, pick up and play. The afterburner is something I'm not sure when I'll need or if I'll even use it but I'll figure it all out eventually.

Quality
The finish on the gutiar is beautiful. There are only 2 flaws in it. The bottom of the guitar has a little crack in the finish and the headstock has some rubbed off at the tip. However, these are both faults of the store's packaging so I'm still giving good quality rating.

Value
I hate it when people say that there should be a cheaper version for "us poor people." For what this guitar read more is, it's worth more than it's price. I even got a slight discount because of the 2 flaws mentioned above.

Manufacturer Support
I never dealt with ESP/LTD before but I'm sure that I won't need to with how well my other guitar(LTD F-100FM) is doing.

The Wow Factor
Just look at this guitar and tell me it's ugly and you wouldn't go near it. Impossible. It may appear "emo" to some people but that does not diminish it's beauty. Dan Jacobs had a great idea when he had this guitar design made.
