What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Semi-hollow body Enhances sustain, more open tone and feel
Humbucking pickups Fat, responsive in-your-face tone, without the hum
Maple neck Bright tone, full sustain and strength
Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel

The Epiphone Sheraton II offers fantastic looks and classic semi-hollowbody tone. The gold hardware and body/neck/headstock binding really make this guitar stand out, but don't be fooled -- there's more to the Sheraton than just beauty. The Sheraton's got a pair of humbucking pickups and a semi-hollowbody design that captures the best features of both solidbody and hollowbody guitars. The cavity of the Sheraton II is mostly open, but includes a solid wood block in the center, allowing the guitar more resonance and sustain while still providing the open, warm tones of a jazz box. It's also got a three-piece set maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, so it plays like a dream too.

Epiphone Sheraton II: Where'd Version II Come In?

The Epi Sheraton has always been a well-regarded guitar, but the original version featured an old vintage tailpiece, the Frequensator. The Frequensator was an asymetrical tailpiece that allowed for a longer string length on the Sheraton's three bass strings. However, this old design would crack fairly often (owing to its thin construction and string tension), requiring the use of a replacement tailpiece. Epiphone saw fit to replace this tailpiece on the Sheraton II with a classic stop bar tailpiece, and afterward the Sheraton's profile rose significantly. This guitar has come a long way from its roots, and is now one of the more popular semi-hollow guitars employed by indie rockers, including Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), Matt Followill (Kings of read more Leon), and Brian Aubert (Silversun Pickups). Of course, it goes without saying that this is a great guitar for the more traditionally minded, too - after all, this is the guitar John Lee Hooker was best known for.

(see rating details)
Best guitar I've ever had, best guitar I ever will have.
Sound
Sounds really smooth. Wroks good if your playing blues, jazz, and if you're trying to get a Trey Anastasio type of sound, this works pretty damn good.
Features
Good pickups, good tuners, hell good everything. Only problem: Get toggle switch replaced as soon as you can. It breaks easily.
Quality
great quality
Value
won't be worth much money, but its sentimental value will skyrocket the second you pick it up to play it.
The Wow Factor
If this guitar were a woman, it would be Halle Berry.

Musical Style:

Classic rock, blues, classical, anything by Pink Floyd
