Overall: First, I need to say that I could only afford this because of Zzounds' payment plan. Everyone charged about the same money for a new one- but Zzounds let me make four monthly payments. I have had a lot of good luck with Epiphones, and this MM-50 Mandolin was no exception. I had it set-up by a pro, and it's got all the qualities I was looking for: a range of sounds from mellow to harsh "bark," and a low action that lets me go all over the fretboard. I'm very satisfied with the construction and the appearance- it's got a solid top and real curly maple back and sides. Great acoustic volume and it's MICs beautifully .
Style of Music: Rock, Folk, Country, Blues, Celtic, Cajun and "Other."

Overall: Nice looking Mandolin, finish was good. The tuners seem pretty cheap. The worst problem is the uneven frets. The 12th fret doesn't even play because the 13th is so high. Intonation was way off. By the time I tuned it up and down 6 or 7 times so I could move the bridge around and get it right, you guessed it, I broke a string. I am going to take it in to a shop and get it setup. It seems like it will play and sound good after a good setup. Pretty rough out of the box though. I would expect more out of a $500 instrument, even though I know that is the low end of Mandolins.
