Emulate the great B.B. King with this recognizable electric guitar from Epiphone.

The Epiphone ES-345 was first released in 1959 and was quickly embraced by rockers and bluesmen alike for its classy look and incredible range of tones. Fans of the ES-345 include Keith Richards, B.B. King and Freddie King, whose classic "Hideaway" was recorded with an ES-345. The key to the new Epiphone Limited Edition ES-345 is Epiphone's legendary VariTone control, which enables players to invent a wide range of tonal colors and pickup variations with easy recall. Vintage ES-345s are nearly impossible to find today and even harder to find is an original stereo Epiphone ES-345, but we've taken care of that as well. The Epiphone Limited Edition ES-345 features both mono and stereo outputs, making the modern ES-345 the ultimate axe.

Perfect ES-Styling

Following the classic Epiphone ES-style design shape, the Limited Edition ES-345 by Epiphone features a laminated Maple body with a single layer of white binding on the body and neck. The 24.75 inch scale Mahogany neck has our classic SlimTaper 1960s "D"-profile, a perfect size for both hard rhythm and ringing leads and is hand set with TiteBond glue. The Rosewood fingerboard has a 12 inch radius with a 1.68 inch nut width for proper string spacing along with mother-of-pearl "Parallelograms." The headstock features a Mother-of-Pearl "Pineapple" design. The pickguard comes unattached but also has white and black binding.

Vintage Style Epiphone Electronics

The Epiphone ES-345's electronics feature Epiphone's famous read more Alnico Classic Humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions and like the original, basic tone variations are accomplished with vintage style Black tophat volume and tone knobs with metal inserts and pointers. But the ES-345's original power really begins with the VariTone.

The VariTone Machine

The VariTone uses a six-way rotary switch which engages 5 pre-set notch filters and a bypass. In position one, the VariTone is completely bypassed. As you rotate the rotary switch into positions 2-6, the center frequency of the notch filter shifts from around 1.9kHz down to 130Hz, providing a player with a wide tonal palette unavailable on most other instruments. Positions 2 through 4 offer tonal shaping while still maintaining great clarity. But keep turning and you'll find Positions 5 and 6 shape-shift the Alnico Classic Humbuckers into a single-coil style pickup but without the thin quack usually associated with traditional single coil pickups. Add it all up and between the 6-position VariTone circuit and the 3-position toggle switch, you have 18 unique tones available.

Pro Hardware, Pro Guitar

Epiphone players expect high standards when it comes to hardware and the Epiphone ES-345 doesn't disappoint. Along with the classic gold Epiphone LocktoneTM Tune-o-matic bridge and 3-way all metal toggle switch, the ES-345 has all metal Mono and Stereo Output Jacks, a gold Bigsby Tremolo, gold Wilkinson Vintage with Tulip Buttons and 14:1 ratio tuners, and last but not least, a vintage style bell-shaped 2-layer truss rod cover with "Stereo" engraved in white. I "hope to be buried w/it"!!!!!! I would buy another if it was "nicked" or damaged severely !!!

Sound
I have an Epiphone Lucille, which is basically an ES-355 w/o F- holes, and also has the Varitone selector. I am a Bigsby fan, and the addition of the B-700 unit, is " a welcome addition" to the ES-345's versatility. Finish is impeccable, sound is great !!!!!!!!! I love it !!!!!!!

Features
The combination of the Varitone switch and the Bigsby vibrato are what I like the best. the Epiphone Alnico '57 humbuckers are great sounding, also. the Cherry stain finish shows up the " historically correct" mahogany neck, which most import 355 family guitars do not utilize.

Ease of Use
I like the no.2 and 4,5 settings on the Varitone the best. If you have a "Y" jumper cable, you can get cool sounds in conjunction w/ two amplifiers, and some delay/chorus mixed in.

Quality
The guitar is finished impeccably !!!!!!!!

Value
It is well worth the price, I bought an Epiphone E519 case which compares favorably to the Gibson case I have w/ my Lucille ( with the dust cover). from ww.zzounds.com, earlier in Dec. The ES-345 fits it like a glove!!!! The " pay as you play" plan is great !!!!

Manufacturer Support
I own various Epiphones, have never needed to contact Customer service, My oldest one ( a 1995 Hummingbird) read more sounds warmer due to the aging/opening up of the solid spruce top.

The Wow Factor
The ES-345 is, I think important in the early stages of the "growing up" of popular music back in the late '50's/early '60s. It's sister's, the ES-335 and ES-355 are more known, and it is Epiphone's credit that they continue to offer limited editions of Gibson's guitars from that "classic" era. Sound and versatility of the ES-345 is a plus, also for most kinds of music,, also.

Musical Background:
49 years (1963)

Musical Style:
Classic rock/country/blues, etc. .
