Get Tremendous Value on an SG-style Axe!

The SG is one of rock 'n roll's most famous and popular guitar styles, and now Epiphone has produced the G-400 PRO, a guitar that delivers the sound, feel, and look of classic SGs at an extremely wallet-friendly price. The G-400 PRO contains the distinctive, player-friendly double cutaway SG body style and adds Alnico Classic PRO humbucking pickups and push-pull coil-tapping for producing more single coil-like tone. Added to that foundation are tonally rich, balanced-feel tonewoods, as well as high-quality Epiphone hardware, making the G-400 a tremendous value.

Alnico Classic Pickups For Classic Tone

The G-400 PRO's great tone begins with its two pickups: Alnico V magnets that promote sustain and are very responsive to the nuances of a guitarist's playing. The Alnico Classic humbuckers produce a hot, clean signal that you can mix and shape to your liking with dedicated volume and tone controls for each pickup. Via the volume controls, you can enable coil-tapping for each pickup, giving you the ability to produce dirtier single-coil tone when necessary.

Tonewoods for Balanced Sound and Feel

While many guitars tend to feel neck-heavy, the G-400's solid carved mahogany body ensures a balanced feel while also producing rich tone. Thanks to its SlimTaper 'D' profile mahogany neck, it plays remarkably comfortably as well. Finally, it sports a rosewood fingerboard, making for easy playing and a warm, lush sound.

Solid, No-nonsense Hardware

No corners were cut with the G-400's hardware. Its LockTone bridge and Stopbar tailpiece produce great sustain, while also helping maintain the guitar's intonation. It also features Wilkinson Vintage Classic 14:1 tuners, full-size 500K potentiometers, and a heavy-duty pickup toggle switch.

Follow in the Footsteps of Legends

There's a reason why Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Pete Townshend, and countless other guitar legends have chosen an SG over the years. Its easy-to-play double cutaway style, great rock guitar tone, and balanced feel make for a perfect workhorse axe for studio and stage. Pick a G-400 and guarantee yourself great sound and smooth playing on a classic guitar!

Product Description

Epiphone honors the historic SG with the G-400 PRO, which now features Alnico Classic PRO pickups and push/pull coil-tapping. The original SG not only rivaled guitars of its own era for sonic variety but also proved to be a sign of things to come. Scores of rock, hard rock and metal guitarists embraced the original SG and made it a classic. Now, the G-400 PRO gives you the sound and look of a real SG at an affordable price.

Solid Guitar

When the SG, or "Solid Guitar," was introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard, it was called the "fretless wonder" for its low frets and fast action. The twin horn cutaway design was like nothing on the market and its light but balanced weight made it the perfect guitar for stage and studio work. Later '60s models introduced the SG with humbucker pickups, and since then, the SG has became the go-to guitar for artists like The Who's Pete Townshend, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, Paul Weller, AC/DC's Angus Young, Eric Clapton and Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band.

Built for Classic SG Performance

The G-400 PRO is inspired by the late '60s era SGs, both a player's and collector's favorite, and uses the same dimensions and build techniques as vintage SGs made in the Kalamazoo, Michigan, factory during that classic era. The solid, tone-rich mahogany carved body gives the guitar a balanced feel on stage and in the studio (unlike cheap imitations that tend to be neck-heavy). The Wilkinson Vintage Classic tuners are also lightweight which makes your G-400 PRO feel perfectly balanced on stage and in the studio. The SlimTaper "D" profile mahogany neck has a 24.75-inch scale with 22 frets and a 12-inch radius for incredible reach thanks to the SG's classic cutaway. And for that one-of-a-kind SG feel, the G-400 has a rosewood fingerboard with a 1.68-inch nut. The truss rod cover is the classic Kalamazoo bell shape with SG PRO in white.

Alnico Classic PRO Power

Epiphone always finds a way to make improvements on their classic designs and the G-400 PRO is no exception. Now featuring Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO 4-wire humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, the G-400 PRO offers a tonal palette that far exceeds any other guitar of its kind. The Alnico Classic PROs feature Alnico V magnets for terrific humbucker sustain with a huge dynamic range that can go from clean to crunch at a touch. And now, the G-400 PRO features coil-tapping on both pickups via a push/pull control on the pickups' volume controls.

Epiphone Hardware You Can Trust

Epiphone leads the way in manufacturing great-sounding guitars for players of all levels and that goes for their great hardware, too. Epiphone provides quality, all-metal hardware on all its instruments including full-function volume and tone knobs using full-size 500K potentiometers matched with Epiphone's rugged, all-metal, 3-way toggle pickup selector switch for long-lasting performance. The G-400 PRO features Epiphone's famous LockTone bridge and Stopbar tailpiece which yields incredible sustain along with Wilkinson Vintage Classic 14:1 tuners for lifetime security.

Worry-Free Protection

As with all Epiphones, the G-400 PRO includes a Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson's famous 24/7/365 customer service.

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Epiphone G400 PRO in Heritage Cherry"
Sound: Great versatility- The coil tap option is awesome! I can get the sound I want with just a few quick adjustments- I leave the toggle switch in the middle position, adjust the bridge and neck pickup volumes and tone, determine how many coils I want active on which pickups- and there you have it-- The only other guitar I have that is that versatile is my Gibson Les Paul Signature, even my Fender Strats don't some close. If you just want to have one guitar you know can grab real quick to fill in for a friends band, or play an open mic - this is the one! Feature: Coil tapping! The volume and tone pots have a great range also! I did, as I always do with any guitar I buy, change the strings right away to Fender Pure Nickle strings- and checked the intonation-- Not too bad- the E-A-D's were dead on the G-B-E were a bit sharp and I had to adjust for that-- still not a big deal Ease of Use: Very easy to play! This is the most balanced SG I have ever held- I have a G400 as well and it tends to be a little neck heavy- but NOT this one! The neck is still a lot thicker than the body, but it balances out nicely. Quality: Seems to be made pretty well- Sturdy- I feel the hardware is made of great components. There is always some talk about the hardware, finish, woods, plastics, wiring - etc. of US made guitars being higher quality than Foreign made guitars- I have never had this issue with Epiphones. Value: Very much worth it- My G400 was $100 less than this G400 PRO- the extra $100 I paid for the PRO- WORTH IT!! Manufacturer Support: Had no issues-- Ordered via the internet on a Thursday night- guitar arrived Saturday by 5- They are located in NJ and I am in MD, so that is probably the biggest factor! The Wow Factor: I love the look, feel and playability of this guitar- add the coil tapping- WOW!-- Overall: Great value- Great sound- Great features- Great Components- Great Quality- Good seller! The coil tap option is awesome!
