Great value- Great sound- Great features- Great Components- Great Quality- Good seller! The coil tap option is awesome! I can get the sound I want with just a few quick adjustments- I leave the toggle switch in the middle position, adjust the bridge and neck pickup volumes and tone, determine how many coils I want active on which pickups- and there you have it-- The only other guitar I have that is that versatile is my Gibson Les Paul Signature, even my Fender Strats don't some close. If you just want to have one guitar you know can grab real quick to fill in for a friends band, or play an open mic - this is the one!Coil tapping! The volume and tone pots have a great rang! I did, as I always do with any guitar I buy, change the strings right away to Fender Pure Nickle strings- and checked the intonation-- Not too bad- the E-A-D's were dead on the G-B-E were a bit sharp and I had to adjust for that. This guitar is very easy to play! This is the most balanced SG I have ever held- I have a G400 as well and it tends to be a little neck heavy- but NOT this one! The neck is still a lot thicker than the body, but it balances out nicely.Seems to be made pretty well- Sturdy- I feel the hardware is made of great components. There is always some talk about the hardware, finish, woods, plastics, wiring - etc. of US made guitars being higher quality than Foreign made guitars- I have never had this issue with Epiphones.Great classic styling in a new guitar!

I love this guitar, and it never sits in the corner "gently weeping". I have only had it for a week but am very impressed. I got this to mostly replace a 73 Gibson L6-s that has the frets were very worn. The neck is slightly wider and not quite as thick which leads to faster play (at least in my case). I am still exploring the range of tonal combinations but definitely like the sound spectrum added by the coil tapping (splitting) option. I use the guitar mostly with our worship team at church but still mess around with classic rock at home. The humbuckers are well able to produce a nice low growl and plenty of sustain. The guitar arrived quickly and in pristine condition. Kudos to the zZounds crew for delivering. If you are looking for an SG model guitar, DO NOT overlook this one, great sound, nice finish and feel. Very Happy with my purchase. Haven't had to use the manufacturer support so it gets 3.5 stars.

I ordered the Ebony G400 pro from zZounds. The one I picked up was blemished and so I got it for a great price. The guitar arrived quickly and upon inspection I can't find a single flaw. I could not be more pleased. The pictures don't do this instrument justice. A few things worth mentioning are that the neck I received happened to have a nice cream binding, something I did not expect and is not pictured for either finish. What a pleasant surprise! Finish is flawless, tuners feel every bit as good as Gibson. The pickups sound amazing through my Boss katana 50. I am less than impressed with the sound when coil tapped, but it is still a nice feature to play around with. I purchased this thinking I am going to upgrade it and hopefully end up with something as good as a Gibson. I honestly don't think I'm going to be upgrading anything any time soon... It's already SO nice. I am a very experienced player who has taken a break for the past few years and decided to pick up some new gear and get my chops back. I thought I'd have a decent low end guitar to get back into it and then invest in something more permanent. I have to say though, this is no beginner guitar. The quality is, in my opinion, every bit as good as any Gibson sg I've played. Be advised however, mine needed extensive setup work. The action was miles high and intonation was off. If you know how to adjust truss and tuno-o-matic bridge then you'll be fine. If not I suggest taking it to a professional.

I bought this for my son who is learning to play. Seems to be a quality instrument. Out of the box, I needed to do a good set up and new strings. Had to lower the action a bit and a few frets were high, but we were able to level those fairly easy. The coil tapping is a nice feature, but I am not sure if he will use it much. It has a lot of low end, and through every amp in our studio, we had to max out the treble and turn the mids and lows way dawn to bring out the treble. I figure it may be the CAPS. Once you tune in the amp, and set it up, it sounds great and plays well. I bought the hardshell case for it as well, because it needs to be protected when not in use. The guitar shipped fast and was at my house two days after purchase. The finish was flawless. all and all I am very happy with it and my son loves it.

I'll admit, I was concerned about the quality considering it's a Chinese guitar but after purchasing it I'm not any longer. Guitar was absolutely flawless and came setup perfect right out of the box. I was surprised because the neck had binding and I've been reading they don't but mine came with it which made me happy because I prefer binding. The only thing I was not happy about was the thickness of the neck, it is a lot more than I am used to but after a few hours of playing I've gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore. All and all I would say I am very happy with the quality and hopefully the guitar will be reliable for many years to come.

After a virtual lifetime of Fender products, finally a product in my arsenal, that sets the the clock back with style, and kick rectum tone.No more sending Leo Fenders' offspring to college. If you're sick of bolt on neck nostalgia, because you think you're gonna be the next Jeff Beck,Hendrix,or Robin Trower,FORGET IT!Get a hold of some serious slab. With the new coil tap pots, you can still get that "thin"Fender spank, but have a glued in neck, stays in tune, straight necked tone king.Together with my Prophesy GX,this is double trouble. The SG has about as close out of the box tone,as Jeff Becks non tune o matic oxblood LP,he used on "Blow by Blow"The secret is in tweeking the tone pots,,,almost vocal harmonics, especially thru a 50watt plexi,or Vibro.Tip:Early amps AC30s,Fenders,etc.,didn't have midrange knobs(controls)if you want authentic 60s-70s tone ,cut your mids out completely. Also, for sixtys tone the treble response was almost always at"10",bass at about "6",then roll back the treble just enough to cut the squeal.Jeff Beck rolled his Super Beatles bass down to "3"!Try the SG.

Guitar completely blew my expectaitions away, the quality has really changed for the better! Exactly the tones I've always wanted long live AC/DC! Ordered the product and it came within 3 days. Received my G400 Pro yesterday and have been playing it non-stop. Some reviewers have complaints about the neck shape and thickness, but my hands are large and it feels very comfortable. I've had Epiphones in the past, but bone with the build quality of this guitar. I love the coil splitting, gives me a wide palatte of tones. The pickups are warm and clear, the electronics seem to be quality (I haven't taken a peek yet). It came from zZounds with a near perfect set-up. The tuners are precise, not sloppy at all. I've been playing for 50+ years and I would recommend this guitar to even the most expeienced and jaded players. I'm trying to find something to upgrade, but don't really see anything yet. Thanks zZounds, for a quality instrument.

I bought the new G400 Pro for my nephew who is a beginner! Cherry Red and beautiful! It is noticeably lighter weight and better ballanced than previous Epiphone G400s which is very nice. My nephew just plays and plays this guitar with a MIni Fender amp and is just loving it. Ephipone is obviously concerned about quality . For $349.00 you will not find a better guitar! I bought this guitar with the Epiphone SG case which I believe is very good deal at $79.00. Zzounds is a great place to purchace any guitar with an endless selection.

Bought this for my wife to learn guitar. For the $ it has the most features that will keep a newbie interested. Better pick ups than other models, with split coils, give you allot of tone options. From Sabbath fuzz to more Fender-ish single coil colors. Not exactly strat but closer than a humbucker for sure. The guitar came ready to rock out of the box. Probably due to Gibson QC. I have found some intonation changes on some strings since its settled into my desert environment, but nothing a proper set up wont fix. Overall very satisfied with this Epiphone. It will keep the interest of a beginner/intermediate player. I have owned many guitars over the years, but this SG has some mojo...its played about 4 hours a day by both my wife & I.

just got this a few days ago.black one.came well setup, intonation done and stays in tune.Real low action possible and plays well.this one was a blim so I got it on the cheap.fat round neck quite different for a fender and even my es335 epi pro. neck heavy though and takes some getting used to. Ive had lots of guitars mostly fenders but I wanted a light humbucking guitar. the pickups in this sg are top notch just like the epi 335 pro. these things are a bargain.

After deciding to get back into playing after a 35-year layoff, I wanted a guitar that would play well within a reasonable budget, and I definitely made the right choice with the Epiphone G400 PRO. Had to set it up out of the box but it was a easy setup. I especially like the coil split feature, really adds to the possibilities when shaping a tone or sound. I never owned a SG before this one so I couldn't compare it to another, but I can say I don't think this one will disappoint me enough to continue searching. Its everything I wanted with the lighter weight along with that distinctive SG sound. It is a bit neck heavy but I have already adjusted to it, I may later on add a Bigsby which I am sure will level out the weight distribution. The quality of the instrument seems solid , the hardware appears to be of a good grade, the finish is excellant. I have had no issues so I don't know if I should rate the Manufacturer support.

It sounds so crunchy. The pickups are very clear for the money. From the high to the low sound it definitely picks everything up. But the neck is like a sponge. The slightest pressure in any direction and your bending the notes. Takes some getting used to. And I bought a brand new guitar that had about 3/8th inch's of action and the Intonation made and chords impossible. So I had to do all the tech work. But the sound of this guitar makes it worth it.

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I remember walking into my local guitarshop as a kid when I first started playing - the feeling of walking along the lines of guitars on their respective racks with pricetags attached always gave me something to look forward to in affording one myself someday. One of those guitars were a Gibson SG, probably a standard model but I remember it felt similar to an Epiphone SG because I tried both. Later on when I grew up and experienced the difference between the quality name of Gibson and Epiphone to this day I still feel right at home and proud to say I own a real SG. The tonal range-capabilities on this thing are phenomenal, not only do you get the classic 2 tone 2 volume with humbuckin' madness but you get the single coil tapping! This guitar feels like a real SG, it (is) a real SG, to me at least. Go elsewhere if you don't want comfortability or incredible tonal range and feel, this is thee guitar. I now have one of the greatest instruments I have ever played or owned regardless of how misleading the pricetag is, I feel this is a truly great guitar. I can say no more or no less. Buy & Enjoy.

This guitar is probably the best value I've ever seen in its' price range. The tone is huge and versatile and it plays like a bat out of Hell. Gorgeous and well-built, you don't want to pass up on this guitar. The pickups are amazing! I can get near Fender tones when I kick in the coil taps, and then dip right back into the classic SG tone when I need something throatier. Why go with a Gibson when this guitar is dang near the quality and well below a "true" SG's cost? I only have had one problem out of mine, and I'm pretty sure it's an easy fix. A month or two ago the pickup selector switch started to develop glitches. Sometimes it will not kick over to the rhythm/treble or treble only position. I'm fairly sure it's a wiring issue that I can handle myself. Otherwise, I have no issues at all with this awesome, awesome guitar.

Received guitar..opened package..first thing I noticed is how dirty it was. 2cd thing I noticed is one of the adjustment screws for the bridge pickup was stripped and one side of it was sitting in the cavity. 3rd, minor scratches all over the guitar. 4th, neck was faded to a near white in different spots across the length of the neck. I took some pics and called support. I was told that I would have to return the guitar, and once they received it they would ship a new one out, so that would put delay things another 2 weeks appx. I feel like I bought a used guitar with problems at full price. I boxed it up and was going to send it back. I ended saying screw it because I had waited quite awhile wanting this guitar before ordering, and figured I would at least see how it plays/sounds before returning it to see if I would even want another. Once I cleaned it up, guitar looks nice. I really don't care for the neck.It is HUGE!!!! I really like the U shaped neck on my Fender 70's strat, but this feels like a baseball bat. It really contradicts what a SG is all about...sleekness, this neck is really chunky and to me dosen't balance well with the guitar. Pickups werent horrible, but not great either. I will be replacing them with an Gibson Angus Sig and a Classic 57. Tuners are ok,..some seem to evenly adjust the string,..some seem very loose, will see what happens when I change the strings. Overall for $350,..pretty decent guitar, I would have been very happy with had it not come in the condition it did.

Wow. This thing is beautiful. I bought the Cherry red version. (but then is there any other color for an SG?) Setup was perfect. Neck is very comfortable and the Wilkinson tuners are definatley much lighter than the Grover's. Has the exact tone I was looking for.Compliments the others in my arsenal:2012 Epiphone Les Paul Standard with BCS vintage wiring with Bourne pots and a pair of Gibson 57 Classics2011 Washburn WINDLX with Seymour Duncans2011 Washburn WD10SCE Acoustic

"Looks great, full of problems"

While it looks great this guitar since I've had it has been full of problems. It came to me set up like garbage. The action was so bad the strings sat about a half inch off the neck. Every time I turned the volume or tone controls it would hiss at me. The coil taps never worked for me. And now the bridge pick up cuts out and the guitar mutes itself when I use it only. And there is a horrible buzz that's fed through the amp when I add gain to this guitar. Worst of all, I contacted Epiphone and they told me that the warranty only covers the wood part of the guitar, not the electronics. I love zZounds and how they do business, can't say the same for Epiphone. I've heard and read that Gibson is going down the drain with quality and it absolutely shows in there Epiphone lines.
