I can't believe that I would ever need another, maybe I would get a USB conroller also later, but for what it does, the PX-7 is amazing, amazingly versitile and amazingly profession, as I mentioned earlier, easily surpassing more expensive units like the Fantoms in midi and synth functionality.

Sound
For what it does (drums, mainly acoustic,) it does them very very well, often suprising me with a variability of sound produced from hits of different strength on the pads.

Features
I wish that I could use it as a USB midi controller, PLUS there is NO USB MAC SUPPORT, (despite claims of it "coming summer 2002"...) Oh well, with a piece of gear this serious a USB midi interface is probably already in the studio. Once I got it hooked up to one, it was really really handy and fun to control Reason with, especially sending the ARPs to Reason's synths. I wish that the PX-7 had more synths included out of the box, but, hey, its a drum machine, a really big, really powerful drum machine, a drum machine to end all other drum machines, (I cant see why anyone would ever need another...) with a sequencer and 4 outs and serious effects. I got the XL2 and protozoa roms for synths that can use the PX-7's architecture. For under 500, it has (suprisingly,) almost all of the non-sampler features of my Fantom-S, plus better and more Arps.

Quality
Seems solid, cold to the touch, with really nice pads. read more
