We purchased 4 of these to install at a church. The church had 2 power JBL 18's. We connected 2 of these and set them side by side with the JBL's. We used an inuke 6000dsp to power them. No comparison in either sound quality or loudness. The EV's have great tone, deep bass and paunchiness. The 2 JBL's are now used in the fellowship hall. All 4 EV's are located in the main sanctuary. The styles of music played in the sanctuary, vary from Contemporary Christian, Gospel, Jazz, (Live bands) even Christian Rap. We through a Gospel Rap CD release party, and the bass traveled several blocks away, in fact, you could feel the bass resonating in your chest when entering the foyer of the church. I am a professional sound tech, Ive been in the business of running sound and installing pa systems for over 20 yrs. I've used many different brands, from Yamaha, Yorkville, Peavey, Mackie, JBL, Carvin, QSC etc. By far I like these the best - Yamaha, is a close 2nd. "Yamaha has great tone - but not as much punch."
