UA25EX Rugged, compact, and feature filled, the new UA25EX is a portable-interface powerhouse. Ideal for computer-based audio engineers who appreciate mobility, this 24-bit/96 kHz USB audio interface is equipped with pro-grade microphone preamps, a newly developed analog compressor/limiter, and ground-lift functionality for studio and stage.

High-Resolution Performance
Don't let its compact frame fool you - the UA25EX is a full-featured, professional audio interface with extras you wouldn't expect in its size and price class. It's capable of handling audio at 24-bit/96kHz resolution, and boasts newly developed high-end mic preamps, plus pro-quality balanced audio inputs and outputs, and an integrated low-noise, wide-range power supply.

Analog Compression & Limiting
The UA25EX features a newly developed analog compressor with variable attack times and threshold control for smooth capture of vocals or dynamic instruments. The accompanying limiter prevents input clipping from occurring so you'll never lose those perfect takes.

Pro-Quality Shielding with Ground Lift
With its high-grade aluminum chassis, the UA25EX can withstand hard impacts, and is shielded against high-frequency interference from other electrical components. Should a ground loop occur, the new ground-lift function eliminates the noise by disconnecting the sleeve pin of the master output from the earth ground.

Bundled Software
Included with the UA25EX is the Production Plus Pack from Cakewalk By Roland, a feature-rich recording software bundle consisting of SONAR LE, Project 5 LE, and Dimension LE for PC-based recording. The CD-ROM also includes the latest ASIO, WDM, and MME drivers for Windows XP and Vista (32-bit versions), plus CoreAudio drivers for Mac OSX. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Edirol products.

"It works."
Sound: Can't record and playback simultaneously at 96khz. Must choose one or the other. No problems doing both at 44.1khz and 48khz. Acceptible latency. with hi-z in from guitar can run through Amplitube modelling software and listen back without noticable lag. For bigger projects direct monitoring is recommended. Feature: Would be nice to have a switch for the outputs so you could switch between different pairs of monitors for mixing. Don't really use the compressor/limiter but handy to have. Seperate volume control for headphones would be nice! Ease of Use: Had everything working within an hour and have had no problems since. The included Sonar software caused latency problems for me with this card. Didn't like the look of it anyway. Downladed reaper and no problems. Quality: I've had it for 1 month. Its well built and I expect it will last. Value: It works with my laptop and I've heard of very few problems with this usb audio card. Also it has vista 64 bit drivers which is a great sign! Manufacturer Support: Hopefully wont need to find out how good they are. The Wow Factor: Unless I found something that was guaranteed to work without issues on my setup, I would most definately buy this again. Overall: Very reliable audio interface. I would recommend to friends.

"Best USB interface in its price range."
Sound: This sounds better than anything else I've tried in its price range. Feature: Pretty basic, but it does have a built-in compressor/limiter and MIDI. It's better that it be basic in features but better in quality where it counts, such as is the case with its mic pres and ADA converters. Ease of Use: It's just plug and play on my MacBook Pro. I didn't even have to install the driver software since I don't need the extended software features. Works great with Logic Studio and MainStage. Quality: No cheap plastic here. You could probably run over its metal case with a car and it would still hold up. Value: A bit more expensive than competing units from ART, Presonus or M-Audio, but you get what you paid for. Manufacturer Support: Edirol/Roland tech support was easy to contact with their previous gear. I didn't have a need to contact them about the UA-25EX. The Wow Factor: The industrial design is not as cool looking as a Presonus AudioBox USB, for example, but it is designed well. Overall: I have no intention of buying another interface, this one meets my needs. If Apogee redesigned the Duet without the funky breakout cable, made it USB instead of FW and lowered the price by $150, then maybe I'd consider that instead.
