EBS OctaBass Octave Pedal

No longer available at zZounds
This sub-octave pedal generates single notes an octave below the pitch of the note you're playing, thickening your sound -- and it recognizes chords, too.

The EBS OctaBass analog octave divider creates a single note one octave below the pitch of the played note, adding dimension to your sound.

Intelligent Tracking

The incredibly fast tracking allows for rapid playing techniques. The pedal also recognizes two or three-note chords.

Right now I'm satisfied with what it does and how it sounds, but if it was lost or stolen I might consider searching around for another product. But it would have to be quite the pedal to make me switch. maybe a multi-effect or something, but usually you lose out in quality on those things.

Sound
Very nice sub octave sound. Sort of synthy tracks very well for an octaver, but still craps out below C on the A string and open notes. A good trick is to boost your bass eq before the pedal to help it out with the tracking. Great, clean signal and does not rob any of your tone while engaged or bypassed. Sounds much more natural than the BOSS OC-2 or OC-3 which I own both. I use the EBS in my pedal board because of the clean sound and the really low power draw on my pedalpower II. The BOSS OC-3 in comparison can draw too many mamps from a multi-pedal power supply.

Features
has all you really need. dry level, one octave below level, and 3 settings for basic octave tone. Simple is best in this case.

Ease of Use
Again very simple to use. Although you have to get used to playing with it to get the best sound out of it. pickup selection, and picking position plays a huge role in any octaver to get the best clean tracking.

Quality
own a couple of EBS pedals and they are built tough, never had a problem.

Value
A bit expensive, read more but in the end worth it. Don't by several cheep pedals first then end up not satisfied. By the EBS and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Manufacturer Support
never needed any so I don't know.

The Wow Factor
Not the sexiest pedal out there, but in doing funk, r&b and dance covers, I find a surprising amount of uses for this baby. I also play classic and prog rock and I use it a bit in those styles as well. You will be surprised at how people look at you in awe when you kick this pedal on. Serious bottom end!
