The Dean MAB1 has serious Michael Angelo Batio attitude. With 1 neck and three EMG pickups, the Dean MAB1 Michael Angelo Batio shreds.

Michael Batio, that name makes many a shredder tremble. Name one guitarist who has set the world athunder with the prowess of his skill just recently? Michael Batio. Playing with his unique double-guitar he can play both lead, rhythms, double solos and intertwine all this on the same guitar at the same time with two hands. A feat to behold where one man's playing can outdo two! No wonder, Dean also later on created a Quad model featuring 4 guitars! for the player who can't even be contained by two guitars. The MAB1 model by Dean, creators of his distinct Double-Guitar and Quad-Guitar have kept his unique attention to quality in the creation of his single body model.

Dean MAB1 Michael Angelo Batio Features

The MAB1 features a lightweight Alder body to combat playing fatigue. Other features include a Michael Batio spec'ed maple neck (exactly like he plays!), ebony fingerboard, Grover tuners, and three EMG pickups (EMG-81, 85 and SA pickups). Not to be outdone this guitar is equipped with a Floyd Rose licensed bridge for extreme whammy techniques and with Batio's own chosen Armoflame graphic finish.

This is a top quality instrument. Don't be fooled by it's low price. You may want bindings, or some prettier woods, but that's what you're paying for. If you want a museum piece to show off, get an old Gibson or Fender or whatever. If you want snob appeal, get one of the $2000 plus pretty guitars out there. If you want a great guitar to play, it doesn't get much better!!

Sound
The addition of the SA to the commonly used 81+85 combination really adds a lot of flexibility. It does metal like you'd expect. You can hear your playing through heavy distortion. Great sound! What's surprising is the range of clean and less overdriven sounds you can get from this guitar! I've had a lot of guitars with EMGs, and it may be some other factor that I'm not realizing (amp, settings, etc.), but it seems some sound better than others. This one is amazing!

Features
Grover tuners, original Floyd Rose, EMGs. What more could you ask for??

Ease of Use
I have been playing for 36 years now. I've had G.A.S. (guitar acquisition syndrome) for most of them. I have owned literally hundreds of guitars. This is definitely up there with the best for playability! Yes, it is built for speed, but this neck is easy to play anything on! From strumming chords to fast runs! I am truly impressed!

Quality
I was concerned about buying a Dean. I was REALLY concerned about buying a guitar read more made in Korea, but the quality of this guitar is easily as good as my Ibanez Prestige models I've bought recently and FAR better than my USA made Malmsteen strat I bought last summer! The only reason I'm putting a 9 for quality is the case. The guitar is perfect! The case is total garbage!

Value
I bought mine on sale (it's the black one, "LAZER", that's being discontinued), it is probably the best deal I have ever gotten on a new guitar! I've already ordered an "Armored Flame" one!

The Wow Factor
This guitar looks and feels far better than the pictures look! This has immediately become the guitar I play the most. It may sound silly, but I feel like I can play better on this guitar, so it inspires me to play more! (which means I will play better, so I guess it doesn't matter which came first)
