Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal

Clean up your sound with the NS-2 Noise Suppressor. This Boss pedal eliminates noise and hum from the input signal, while preserving your guitar's tonality.

Your Boss NS-2 noise suppressor pedal will keep your signal pristine and clean of hum, buzzes, or any other annoying and unwanted sounds. Its easy-to-engage stompbox-styled construction means every stomp will deliver effective noise suppression on demand. Threshold and decay dials allow you to dial in the suppression, and a mode control featuring reduction and mute settings give you some sonic flexibility. An input, a send, a return, and an output jack all deliver plenty of connectivity options. You'll know your noise suppressor pedal is working when the bright red reduction light flashes on, which is a nice visual aid to help you set your decay and threshold settings.

The Boss of Effects Pedals

Boss has been an innovator and trendsetter in effects pedals ever since their renowned CE-1 chorus pedal. In 1977, Boss's compact stompbox-style began with the warm and smooth-sounding OD-1 Overdrive pedal, and since then, the look, design, and control layout became a staple on musicians' pedalboards throughout the decades. With their recessed controls, built-in LEDs, and silent switching, this line of pedals remains a popular choice for many guitarists across genres and styles.

Reducing the Noise

The Boss NS-2 gives you the tools you need to clean up a noisy signal. Three dials pave your way for dialing in the noise suppression: threshold, decay, and a mode dial. The threshold dial sets the decibel level for when the pedal brings the suppression in. To its right, the decay read more control determines how long your notes or chords last before the suppression cuts the signal. You can play around with this control to smooth out the suppression, so your signal maintains a seamless and natural tonal contour, without all of the buzz or hum. The mode dial provides two universal settings: mute for a harsher noise cut, and reduction for a more natural suppression.

Tough Stompbox Chassis

You know you've seen it before on pedalboard after pedalboard: that instantly recognizable Boss stompbox look that has fueled so many axes' signals over the years. A compact size means that your NS-2 won't eat up too much space, and this pedal's tough outer chassis will consistently and reliably keep your signal free of noise stomp after stomp, gig after gig.

About Boss Pedals

The history of Boss reads like the history of guitar effects. From their legendary CE-1 chorus pedal (the big gray box that started it all) to the world's favorite line of compact pedals, they've been responsible for more guitar innovations than just about anyone else.

Boss's compact pedal line-up began in 1977 with the classic OD-1 Overdrive. Its warm, smooth overdrive sounds and breakthrough Boss pedal features (heavy-duty construction, rubber pads on top and bottom, recessed control knobs, silent switching, a built-in LED, and easy battery replacement) immediately set it apart from other stomp boxes on the market. It established the masterful design for all other Boss effects pedals since.

Throughout the years, Boss has continued to define the cutting edge of guitar effects. Double-layer circuit boards allowed pedals like the DD-5 Digital Delay to deliver studio-quality effects comparable to rackmount units. They recently brought bassists and guitarists the first bass synthesizer in a compact pedal, the SYB-3. On their 20th anniversary they proudly introduced the OD-3 Overdrive, a pedal that takes the smooth, dynamic overdriven tones of the legendary OD-1 to a different level. Like all Boss products, it is a level of sound quality and durability that is unrivaled.

This is the third NS-2 I bought , and from many years using Boss Ns-2 in my pedalboards. First of all this is very effective and simple in use noise gate. Second it has loop , so I'm running my distortion pedals in the loop of NS-2. Third it cost just 100 bucks. There is no better gate for the money. I tried a lot of gates , even double or triple more expensive and they work exactly like NS-2 . This is probably the best choice for any pedal board. Some time ago I watched on You Tube rig rundown of Yngwie Malmsteen. There was Boss NS-2 very visible on his pedalboard.
