Ground-breaking, high-quality AKG large-diaphragm recording microphones have defined the international studio standard for decades. The new Perception 100 and Perception 200 microphones are based on AKG's nearly 6 decades of experience and from input provided by sound engineers around the world that use AKG products every day.

Perception microphones represent a new generation of AKG microphones with individual features and outstanding sonic characteristics. Perception microphones were designed by AKG's engineers in Vienna and are built in China under the rigorous control of AKG quality assurance. Therefore, these microphones conform to the stringent standards defined for AKG products and offer genuine AKG quality at high-value prices never seen before.

Both Perception models share many features in common: Rugged, die-cast metal housings, tasteful colours, nickel-plated grilles, clear placement of control elements, and rugged, gold-plated XLR connectors. Perception 100 and Perception 200 are true condenser cardioid microphones that require 48 V phantom power to deliver their classic warm and transparent sound.

Perception 200 is equipped with 2 additional filters: a switchable bass cut filter to reduce proximity effect, and a switchable -10dB pre-attenuation pad for use in high sound pressure level environments up to 145dB. The Perception 200 also comes with a deluxe spider-type shock-mount in a metal carrying case.

"Go get one!"

Sound: Warm, warm, warm. Oh, did I say warm? For broadcasting work this is a fantastic sounding mic for a small studio. Feature: Hard case, cracking shock mount, attenuation and lo cut switches. And a great sound. You can get a lot less for a lot more... Ease of Use: Plug and play (assuming you have phantom) Quality: Very well made and solid - typical AKG Value: Never owned a mic that is such good value for money The Wow Factor: Irresistable Overall: Overall, I can't fault this mic, even if I had paid a lot more for it. For live broadcast work, vocal and instrument recording, and live stage work it is a true gem

"AKG, a name you can count on for quality."

Sound: As a broadcaster, I have become comfortable using dynamic mics, geenearrly SM5B's, RE20's, and SM7's. I woulod compare the Perception 200 to any of the expensive mics used in the industry. This is an extrememy sensitive mic, so if you are used to "eating" a dynamic, this will take some getting used to. Feature: The 10 db attenuation is a nice feature, as is the roll off, if needed. Ease of Use: Can't get any easier, plug it in and you're ready to go! Quality: I expected quality with AKG, and as expected, they delivered. The mic has a nice solid feel, well made. Value: I was very impressed with the audio quality. This mic has a frequency response as good, or better than mics costing 3 times the cost. Manufacturer Support: I don't expect that support will ever be needed. The Wow Factor: I like the light silver-blue coating. Overall: I expect to keep this mic in the studio for many years, not necessarily for voice-over work, unless I install a pop and blast filter.
