"The metal tone holy grail"

Feature:
The only two things missing from this amp are an integrated reverb and the ability to change the amp's channels without a footswitch.

Quality:
solid solid solid. You could throw bricks at this thing, though if anyone throws a brick at mine they're losing a limb.

Value:
It's about the same as a JSX or Dual Rec, and I personally think it's better than either.

Desirability:
How could you not want it?

Sound:
With a Maxon tubescreamer in front of it, this is the best sounding metal amp I've heard as of yet. Not to mention it's got one of the best clean channels on any high gain amp around.

Ease of Use:
Beautiful. You'll go nuts with the Sweep control.

Support:
They answer emails within a few hours, and I've heard nothing but good things about their ability to service the amp if it needs it.

Overall:
Nearly a perfect amplifier.

"Totally excited before but disappointed afterwards !"

Feature:
Only simple speaker and power cable was included, sufficient and OK. No FX dry/wet pot which I'd prefer and I feature I have in my Mesa.

Quality:
Good and solid but to me it looks a little bit cheap.

Value:
Perhaps one of the worst amps I've ever played, even my old Marshall Valvestate sounded better to me. Definately far too expensive; no value for money...

Desirability:
Only sexy for it's name...

Sound:
I read reviews from people who have sold their MESA for this and wo I was quite excited when I got this amp, plugged it to my full stack and was totally disappointed. The gain of the Krank Ch. might be ok for classic to Thrash Metal but totally insufficient for Death Metal. To me it sounds a little bit like a solid state amp, the low end is not only bad, it is not there at all, and this playing a Stallings Dragonslayer Custom USA guitar tuned down to C ! In order to get a little bit of low end I plugged in a BBE Sonic Maximizer 482 into the FX send/return with the "Low process" knob at full throttle which only helped a bit. I had master volume up nearly full to be heard in my band where I keep the Mesa Master down at 10 'o' clock, needless to say the KRANK produced a lot of feedback in this stage. Turning the EQ pots didn't affect the sound as much as the Dual Recto does. I didn't try out the Kleen channel as I don't need it...

Ease of Use:
Modifiying the sound with the EQ was quite ineffective, the presence and gain pot work fine. The amp is a plug'n'play amp but not an amp to try things out with.

Support:
No experience.

Overall:
I come from Germany and I'm happy I'm able to give the amp back to the store I've ordered it. After playing one song with my band I plugged the KRANK out and turned back to my good old Mesa Dual Rectifier from 1996. This is the sound I need for brutal Death Metal. Nevertheless I think of giving the KRANKENSTEIN a chance...
