"Country Legends Piano Player Chooses the P70"

Feature:
All accessories are useful in operation. I did not require the 1/4 output jacks because I used the MIDI outputs to control the Proteus. The piano is perfect for rehearsal and performing in very small rooms, which we don't usually fin ourselves in.

Quality:
Quality is one of YAMAHA's best attributes. They simply do not cut corners on quality materials and electronics.

Value:
There is not a better rehearsal or small room piano available for the price.

Desirability:
It is an adorable little keyboard with a resemblance to it's big brother the CP300 which in itself is an engineering marvel. I recommend black. I had a silver p60 and grew tired of the color quickly. And this piano is easy to transport. While my 100lb. performance piano stays in the cargo bay of the bus, the little P70 follows me right into the hotel room.

Sound:
This product is an excellent rehearsal piano. We carry it on our tour bus and rehearse our harmony parts. It works just fine. I use to take it on stage as a controller to play my Coakley Perfect Piano programs through my Proteus 2000. Now I own the YAMAHA CP300 which I use for stage performances and the P70 is kept for rehearsal only. It is carried in a soft gig bag from hotel rooms and remains one of my closest companions. You can find any better piano for the price. It is no a good performance keyboard, though.

Ease of Use:
This piano is very easy to transport, setup, and play. I cannot think of a better rehearsal piano for the money. I have played YAMAHA pianos professionally since 1986, coming up through the ranks of the CP series of the 80's and 90's. YAMAHA is the world's best piano.

Support:
I haven't needed support from YAMAHA for either of my piano's...YET! Let's keep it that way shall we?

Overall:
This is the best piano for rehearsing and small rooms that I have ever owned, but for the big shows the YAMAHA CP300 reigns supreme. When I am on stage with Grand Ole Opry members its the CP300, but I have rehearsed with many legendary performers with my lightweight P60, and now with my P70.

"The P-70 is awesome!"

Feature:
The weighted keys are my absolute favorite part of this piano because they feel so real. The pedal that comes with this keyboard though, is ok to use for some things, but I've already ordered the FC3 foot pedal to use the half damping feature. The FC5 (the pedal the keyboard comes with) seems to make things sound a little muddy if you're playing faster, sustained pieces, especially in the lower keys.

Quality:
I think this piano is made pretty well. As mentioned in other reviews, the material of on the top looks to be very sensitive to scratches, but if you get even just a dust cover and use it every time you're done playing, you could avoid this problem easily.

Value:
I think the price is right for this piano completely.

Desirability:
The black attracts me a lot. I think it is very simple and elegant looking. I'm sure the silver is too, but I haven't seen it in person.

Sound:
The sound quality is amazing. I love how I can make anything my own with the Yamaha p-70. The other voices it comes with, I don't see myself using much though, because I'm mainly interested in the piano, although, I do like the strings sound.

Ease of Use:
This keyboard is extremely easy to use. Plug it in, adjust your sound and volume and go!

Support:
I haven't had to deal with support, but I've heard good word of them

Overall:
I plan to keep this keyboard for a long time. It's everything I was looking for :)

Real piano sound and feel, anywhere!
Most homes don't have the room for a grand piano. Even if yours does, you can't just throw a grand piano in the trunk and take it to the next gig. The Yamaha P70 piano puts all the sound and feel you'd expect from a real acoustic instrument into a compact and stylish digital device. Practice or perform anywhere with authentic, expressive playability.

Digital piano with AWM samples
Keyboard synthesizers are great for making many different sounds, but digital pianos have a more narrow focus, carefully reproducing the most detailed acoustic-piano characteristics. As one of the few manufacturers of both acoustic and electronic instruments, Yamaha is in a unique position to blend the two elements for the most realistic digital pianos available. They developed a special technique, known as Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) sampling, to capture all of the expressive, dynamic nuances of a true grand piano. AWM samples are recorded in stereo, giving you an accurate representation of every note across the stereo field. More than just tone, AWM samples contain the warmth and character that was only previously available with an acoustic instrument. Your performances will come alive with all the dynamic atmosphere of the finest pianos in the world.

Additional voices
Yamaha uses this same technology to capture other instruments for the P70, as well. With the flick of a switch, you can change from grand piano to electric piano, organ, harpsichord, vibraphone, strings, and more, all with AWM stereo quality. You can find the right tone for any song you want to play, adding a new dimension to your set list and creating different moods from song to song. Offset a dark piano sound with some lush strings or a soulful organ to add texture to your music. Your audience may not be able to explain why they're connecting with your performance in a new way, but you'll know. A total of ten individual voices are available from an easy-to-use patch bank, and the onboard reverb effect adds depth and rich ambience to your tone.

GHS keyboard
The sound quality is impressive, but when combined with the P70's detailed acoustic-piano feel, you get a digital piano that's truly amazing. It starts with Yamaha's Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard. While other digital pianos have the same action on every key, all 88 keys on the P70 are individually weighted with the touch and feel of a real grand piano. Bass keys have heavier action than treble keys, for the most authentic experience ever. Many acoustic players have trouble transitioning to keyboards because of their lack of "feel," but there's no learning curve with the P70. Close your eyes, strike a note, and you'll forget it needs electricity.

Half-damping expression
To further cement the acoustic illusion, the Yamaha P70's damping characteristics are much more realistic than typical keyboards. With the included F5 sustain pedal, you get standard ON/OFF damping. But when combined with a half-damping pedal such as the Yamaha F3 or the M-Audio SP2, you have access to 127 levels of pedal-depth for detailed playing expression. Control your dynamics, letting some notes ring long and clear while clamping down on others. Combined with the GHS keyboard, you can pour your personality into any composition, with nothing to inhibit your creativity.

Onboard amplification
P70 pianos are self-contained units, with their own onboard amplification and speaker systems. Yamaha's extensive electronics background shines again, with a lighter, much less bulky frame than similar digital pianos. Dual six-Watt amplifiers drive the 12 x 6 centimeter stereo speakers for full, clear sound. At about 52 inches wide, 14 inches deep, 5 inches high, and weighing-in at around 28 pounds, you can transport and set up your P70 wherever practice or performance dictates. Set it on a table top, or the optional keyboard stand for comfort and playability. An additional headphone out is perfect for late-night jam sessions or undisturbed practice. MIDI I/O connections are also available for controlling external drum machines, effects processors, or adding tracks to a digital recording environment. As a solo instrument or part of something bigger, you'll really appreciate the pristine sound quality and spot-on acoustic touch.

Onboard preset library
For performance and practice, the P70 comes loaded with a library of 50 preset songs. These presets can be triggered automatically for listening enjoyment, or you can mute left- or right-hand parts to build your chops in steps. Get comfortable with the melody, then work on figured bass and chording when you're ready. Experiment with different melody arrangements and chord rhythms within the presets to put your own stamp on a familiar tune.

Accessories
The P70 digital piano includes an AC power adapter, music rest, and Yamaha F5 foot pedal. It is available in stylish black or silver to match any decor.
Offering elegant design and exceptional value, the Yamaha P-70 is just right for the home user. You will be impressed not only by its compact size and lightweight body, but also by its superior sound quality.

Features
Yamaha's new Graded Hammer Standard keyboard

Compact, elegant design perfect for practicing or performing

Authentic AWM stereo sampled voices

Built-in library of 50 piano songs

True-To-Life Sound
The P-70 has an amazingly realistic sound quality usually only found in more expensive models. Using Yamaha's own AWM stereo sampling, sounds were recorded directly from a variety of instruments. Each voice is recorded in stereo, and thus faithfully replicates the sound and warmth of the original instrument.

Elegant Design
While the sound quality of the P-70 captivates, it also compels with its impressive visual design. Lightweight construction, curved corners, and built-in speakers make the P-70 look stunning in virtually any setting. Choose from either black or silver to complement your own personal style.

Graded Hammer Standard Keyboard
Responsive piano action is at your fingertips with the new Graded Hammer Standard keyboard. Yamaha's GHS keyboard recreates the feel of a grand piano. This allows you seamless transition from digital practice to acoustic performance. The P-70 not only duplicates the sound of a real piano, it emulates the feel and action as well.

The Sounds You Need
The P-70 features an array of commonly used sounds such as grand pianos, electric pianos, organs, harpsichords, vibraphones, and strings. Each of these sounds has been recorded and recreated with Yamaha's unrivaled attention to detail.

Built-in Stereo Speaker System
Yamaha's integrated speaker system makes bulky powered speakers a thing of the past. The P Series uses highly efficient amplifiers that pack more sound into a lighter digital piano. With 6 watts per channel, these keyboards are ready to go whenever you are.

Half (Continuous) Pedaling Capability
Rather than simply switching sustain on or off, the P-70 responds to 127 levels of pedal depth. This allows for a more authentic piano performance by emulating the fluid control a pianist has over the damper pedal. Half pedaling is just one more example of Yamaha's dedication to its acoustic piano heritage.

Optional Matching Stand
Complement your P-70 with an attractive stand designed to match the look and feel of this fine product. Match your choice of colors with either the L-70 or the L-70S.

50 Preset Piano Songs at Your Fingertips
Play along with or simply relax to the P-70 selection of 50 piano classics. Learn your favorite piano pieces on the P-70 by muting the left or right hand parts of any song for hands-separate practice. You play one hand, while your digital piano accompanies you with the other.
