Needed a boom to get a mic over some equipment and closer to my normal area. This works however because of its light build and me using a larger condensor mic, I have to be gental as to not have it fall over. It secures well with no slipping where it tightens, but you should be aware that extending the arm with a heavy item at the end will be limited. If I was using it for more modest needs, it would do just fine though not likely to purchase again for my needs. Good price
